Wide screen monitor resolution?
Greetings. Can a monitor that displays a resolution of 1440x900 also display 1280x1024?

Yes it can, as long as the video card driver allows this option, you can change this in Control Panel. One thing to be aware of, a flat panel monitor has a "Native" resolution which in your case is 1440x900, if you choose a resolution other than this you will normally notice a reduction in image quality.

Nope, 1280x1024 is a 4:3 Resolution which is not wide screen, If you did then it'd warp lines, not only stretch but probably mess up your screen as well ( LCD's are very sensitive if you're using one. )
If you're talking about resolutions in games, They're safe to change to what you want. Just not desktop reses.

It may or may not be capable - you haven't provided enough information to say.
What is certain, is that if 1440x900 displays clearly, then 1280x1024 will be distorted (since it is both narrower and taller, but will be squashed to fit in the same aspect ration).

It should be able to display 1280 x 1024 but the screen dimensions will be distorted and you will lose the aspect ratio of the widescreen.

Sometimes it is possible... If you apply that resolution thats a bit too big you will be able to scroll on the desktop. It really depends on the graphics card whether it supports.
