The gas stove flame is more orange than blue?

Is there something wrong with the stove? Nothing is dripping on the gas stove.

from gas engineer - your flame should be blue so a mostly orange flame means which means their is incomplete combustion happening, your stove is not burning the methane properly which means there will carbon monoxide being released in to your kitchen which is very dangerous do not attempt to work on cooker yourself as other people have said as you must be competent to do so as you have asked this question you are not it is against gas safety regulations for you to do so get a gas service engineer around asap its important you get someone in. hope i have been of help to you

There is nothing wrong with your stove or gas supply as some others would have you believe. The 13 year old (although a guess) was closer than most. The orange tips are from impurities burning in the flame. They can be from just about anything such as water vapor from water splashing on a hot surface close to the flame even from dust in the air as well as dirt in the gas line. Try throwing a few grains of salt into the flames and you will see some orange.

The flame of my stove turns orange when I'm getting low on gas. Always. It just started Turning orange today. I moved in here 5 months ago and there was maybe 3/4 tank left. I have 3 humidifiers in my house, one of them being 20 feet from the stove and my flame is never any other color but blue. Except when I'm getting low on gas. And I've been using a gas stove for my entire life.

If it's getting enough O2 it will be blue and if it's short on O2 it will be yellow just like most above said. But here is another thought. Did you happen to be using salt in your cooking at the time you saw the orange? Certain types of atoms cause the flame to turn different colors even if there is enough O2. Sodium in salt causes the flame to turn orange, not yellow. Drop a few grains of salt into the flames and you will see them turn orange as the salt passes through the flame. There are "flame" tests for many elements--if you took high school chemistry you probably performed these tests. They put some of these elements into "color" logs that you can buy for your fireplace to make the flames different colors.

Before everyone gets too excited, I had this issue at my house just the other day. Orange flames, with very little blue. Gas company was there in 15 minutes. It wasn't a serious issue at all. I was running a humidifier in the house and that was the cause. He checked all my appliances to see if CO was be emitted and everything was fine. I turned off the humidifier and within a few hours gas flame was all blue again. With all the stuff I was reading on the internet, I was ready to call the local FD. Sure am glad I did not call them and waste they're resources.

Just had this problem today. Was baking potatoes in the oven. They were brushed with olive oil, sprinkled with coarse sea salt and wrapped in aluminum foil. Have done these on the grill before, first time in oven. The salt ate thru the aluminum foil and appears to have been the culprit in causing all of my burners on the stove to burn orange instead of blue. As soon as the oven was off and cooled, all of the burners were burning blue again.

LT, you are amazing. Humidifier off and the flame is blue again. But can you elaborate on why? In general people are right by saying that orange flame is a result of oxygen starvation. But how is it caused by a humidifier running in a bedroom?

The gas flame is starved for oxygen. Check the flame openings for any debris and clean with a q-tip.

the gas/oxygen mixture is incorrect. the stove needs cleaning of the burner parts
