Mr. Thaw (did) have this slightly noticeable peculiar gait though he could bound up stairs and chase down the (occasional) bad guy. Was it from a chronic condition due to a previous injury? Did he actually sport a prosthetic gam due to amputation or birth defect? Was he kicked in the nads by an ornery divorcee who hated opera?... Or , did he only walk in such a fashion during filming so "all those DESPERATE people could find something to complain about, Lewis ?" Too bad some of the really good Brit actors went (relatively) young, like Thaw and Jeremy Brett. They were devoted and hard workers. Brett too much so as he was born with a bad ticker but always gave it the max as he was still (against his doctors orders) doing live stage with a grueling shhedual . Guess he figured, probably going early anyway, why not leave a legacy. You Sherlock fans may have noticed that John Thaw featured in a memorable episode, "The Mazarin Stone". He was so incredibly made up you would not know him but (maybe) for his voice and guess what , he had a wooden peg leg in it. ......... Bowlers off to them both!
