I usually say 'innallillaahi wa inaa illahayi rajoun' and try not to break down.

and tell them that InshaAllaah their loved one is in better place than us.

and if I knew the person I praise him and talk about their positive things.

May Allaah give that lady noor in her ghabr and save her from the tornment of the grave:(

kullu nafsin daa'iqatul mawt....wa'inama tuwafawna wujurakum yamwal qiyamah,,,faman suhsiha 'aninaari wa udkhalal jannata faqad faas...wamal 7ayaata dunyaa illaa mata3ul quroor.

Every soul is to taste the death; and you will get your compensation in full only on the Day of Resurrection. Whosoever is saved from the Fire and made to enter into Paradise, attained to his goal. And the life of this world is but the goods of deception. alle-Imran

I pray these Scriptures are what you seek! God is faithful! Ps 30:2 LORD, my God, I prayed to you, and you healed me. Ps 103:2 My whole being, praise the LORD and do not forget all his kindnesses. 3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. Ps 107:20 God gave the command and healed them, so they were saved from dying. 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his love and for the miracles he does for people. Ps 118:17 I will not die, but live, and I will tell what the LORD has done. Ps 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. Prov 4:20 My child, pay attention to my words; listen closely to what I say. 21 Don't ever forget my words; keep them always in mind. 22 They are the key to life for those who find them; they bring health to the whole body. Isa 58:8 Then your light will shine like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your God will walk before you, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. 9 Then you will call out, and the LORD will answer. You will cry out, and he will say, 'Here I am.' Jer 17:14 Jeremiah's Third Complaint LORD, heal me, and I will truly be healed. Save me, and I will truly be saved. You are the one I praise. Jer 30:17 I will bring back your health and heal your injuries," says the LORD, James 5:14 Anyone who is sick should call the church's elders. They should pray for and pour oil on the person in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer that is said with faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will heal that person. And if the person has sinned, the sins will be forgiven. 1 Peter 2:24 Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so we would stop living for sin and start living for what is right. And you are healed because of his wounds. 3 John 2 My dear friend, I know your soul is doing fine, and I pray that you are doing well in every way and that your health is good.

No words were giving me any good feeling or comfort when my Father passed away,But only a hug from those who love u & care for u can make u feel good but there is always a part of ones heart aching throughout whole life.

    Assalamu Alaikum

The soul is happy for its freedom when an old and sick person dies. Soul is taken back to Allah and the body made from the product of dust goes back into dust.

Now both body and soul are in comfort and the person was a decent human and faithful to Allah.

May Allah bless the soul and comfort the body in grave.

anything poitive and from the heart will be comforting!!tell the family that she will be by the grace of Allah in a good place and (if she was sick for a long time) is no more in pain and that Allah will surely bless for all the pain and (if) suffering she endured in this life

Inna lillahi waa inna iliahir rajioon..

i'm quite unfamiliar with the death of close ones..only recently did my grandma pass away, and while i knew it was coming, it was still devastating.Just tell them that we all have to leave sometime and that Allah(swt) in His mercy might have saved her from further suffering..I'll pray for her, insha Allah and for all affected by her death.

I feel, just being with them who lost loved ones and giving your support is good enough! And of course, pray for the deceased too.

Dear God. I do not know you. I have never met you. I do not understand you. I am just a man you allow to live. Please be with the old lady who passed today. Amen.

I would say that firstly don't say " i know how you feel" as this is personal.

just allow the natural flow of the event take over you will know and if you presence is required. - people are not programmed to know what to say regards to death only happy events are we ever aware of the right things to say
