Jehovah's Witnesses, is the Watchtower hinting at the year 2034 for Armageddon?

Watchtower, Dec 15, 2003

Page 15, Paragraph 6

"In Noah's day, Jehovah declared: 'My spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh. Accordingly his days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years.' (Genesis 6:3) The issuance of this divine decree in 2490 B.C.E. marked the beginning of the end for that ungodly world. Just think what that meant for those then living! Only 120 years more and Jehovah would bring 'the deluge of waters upon the earth to bring to ruin all flesh in which the force of life is active from under the heavens.' - Genesis 6:17"

Page 15, Paragraph 7

"Noah received the warning of the upcoming catastrophe decades in advance and he wisely used the time to prepare for survival.' After being given divine warning of things not yet beheld,' says the apostle Paul, '[Noah] showed godly fear and constructed an ark for the saving of his household.' (Hebrews 11:7) What about us? Some 90 years have passed since the last days of this system of things began in 1914. We are certainly in 'the time of the end.' (Daniel 12:4) How should we respond to warnings we have been given? 'He that does the will of God remains forever,' states the Bible. (1 John 2:17) Now is therefore the time to do Jehovah's will with a keen sense of urgency."

Page 15, Paragraph 9

"Jehovah has kept these warnings in front of his people by means of timely reminders through the spiritual food provided by 'the faithful and discreet slave'"....

Don't bore me with the "out of context BS. Read the context. It supports the question.

Update 2:

PAPA: The point here is if they frequently make mistakes is what you are now being taught as the truth, really the truth?

At least you admit they make frequent mistakes. The next logical question is why do you follow them?

Update 3:

PAPA: Thanks for the website. By the way my grandkids call me Papa.

Update 4:

The grandkid referance was meant as a compliment.

Update 5:

PEDIC; Hey, don't go to college or get a career!! Just 26 short years left!!!!

Update 6:

DEEP, no proof the flood occured, no proof the bible is God's word.

Update 7:

DEEP, Oh yea, God told you it would come in 1914, 1941,1975 and "In the 20th Century".

Surely they are not calling the end again.

so indirectly implying 120 years since 1914, just as in Noah's day it was "only 120 years more" til the destruction of Noah's "system of things?"

I am definitely not going to get laser hair removal now since it'll be perfect on a Paradise earth in 2034.

Edit: LOL. funny how they're not hinting at anything but they sure like throwing around verbage like "only 120 years more" and "some 90 years have passed since 1914." Oohhh.. ahhhhh...

too late. I have college and a career. Just waiting on laser hair removal.

' After being given divine warning of things not yet beheld,' says the apostle Paul, '[Noah] showed godly fear and constructed an ark for the saving of his household.' (Hebrews 11:7)

What about us? Some 90 years have passed since the last days of this system of things began in 1914.

We are certainly in 'the time of the end.' (Daniel 12:4)

Awake, 10/8/68 "True, there have been those in times past who predicted an end to the world', even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing?.. Missing from such people were God's truths and evidence that he was using and guiding them."

The Watchtower, 8/15/68 "Why are you looking forward to 1975?" (see link)

    This is an interesting Question

The language is a little weaker but seems to imply the same picture as "the generation alive in 1914 will see Armageddon" teachings prior to 1975.

You have already answered the first two questions yourself. If we are dead and remain dead, how will we know we are not resurrected and how could we care? After a 1000 years Satan will be let loose for a little while to try to mislead as many as he can again. There will be people born during this thousand years that have never seen the consequences of Adam and Eve's rebellion and have not gone through the tests that we who have lived during this time have gone through. They will be the main targets of Satan. All those who remain loyal to Jehovah during the final test of Satan's will live forever. Those who follow Satan will die along with Satan and his demons. The only one who can destroy Satan and his demons is Jehovah. Now, whether or not you become a Witness is immaterial to us. We are looking for Jehovah's sheep. Not stubborn goats. We can not cut off your horns and make you a sheep. That is totally up to Jehovah. Jehovah fully uses people like you to further his plan.

No, the word that Jesus said about Generation not necessary imply that is 120 years, in fact according to what we can see in the News , if God´s kingdom is not set in earth sooner , this planet will not survive , and Jehovah won´t let that happen that is why Jesus will remove all humans goverments, very soon.

We would like to see your point of view of what will happen in the future with this planet.

Yeah, it's about time you start predicting the end again. It's been long enough since your last false prophecy to where many forgotten them. And it does "sell" a magazine quite well doesn't it? I'd rather take the tabloids for more truth about Jesus' second coming than the Watchtowers. At least the tabloids have some fun pictures.

“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be AFRAID of him.

That means you are not to LISTEN to him. Which means from the judge on down, it's all false.

  • NO; the Watchtower Is NOT hinting at the Year 2034 for Armageddon & NEVER Has !

Also this S0-Called Information that You "Digged-Up" at Genesis 6:17 is TOTALLY FALSE & MISLEADING !

I AM one of Jehovah's (FAITHFUL) Witnesses and we are Being told "Right NOW" That We are (VERY) Close to the End of This World !

SO; this Whole Idea of the Year 2034 Having "Prophetic Value" to Jehovah's Witnesses "Themselves" or tHE WORLD "in GENERAL" is Totally FALSE !

No, the Society is not pointing to any time.

Also the site you asked me for awhile back for the current study articles is

Have not Jehovah’s Witnesses made errors in their teachings?

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets. They have made mistakes. Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.—Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6.

The Scriptures provide time elements related to Christ’s presence, and Jehovah’s Witnesses have studied these with keen interest. (Luke 21:24; Dan. 4:10-17) Jesus also described a many-featured sign that would tie in with the fulfillment of time prophecies to identify the generation that would live to see the end of Satan’s wicked system of things. (Luke 21:7-36) Jehovah’s Witnesses have pointed to evidence in fulfillment of this sign. It is true that the Witnesses have made mistakes in their understanding of what would occur at the end of certain time periods, but they have not made the mistake of losing faith or ceasing to be watchful as to fulfillment of Jehovah’s purposes. They have continued to keep to the fore in their thinking the counsel given by Jesus: “Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”—Matt. 24:42.

Matters on which corrections of viewpoint have been needed have been relatively minor when compared with the vital Bible truths that they have discerned and publicized. Among these are the following: Jehovah is the only true God. Jesus Christ is not part of a Trinitarian godhead but is the only-begotten Son of God. Redemption from sin is possible only through faith in Christ’s ransom sacrifice. The holy spirit is not a person but is Jehovah’s active force, and its fruitage must be evident in the lives of true worshipers. The human soul is not immortal, as the ancient pagans claimed; it dies, and the hope for future life is in the resurrection. God’s permission of wickedness has been because of the issue of universal sovereignty. God’s Kingdom is the only hope for mankind. Since 1914 we have been living in the last days of the global wicked system of things. Only 144,000 faithful Christians will be kings and priests with Christ in heaven, whereas the rest of obedient mankind will receive eternal life on a paradise earth.

I hope you use this site for the betterment and to try find so called errors and belittle us.

take care, yes I am very happy being one of Jehovah's Christian Witnesses.

I see that you are happy with your situation, the best to you.

What a tremendous leap you have made! Even JW's don't do that.

Or perhaps you don't believe that the flood occurred and wiped out a world of ungodly men?

Or that God has told us it will happen again for a last time in the near future.

It could be tomorrow, but it won't be when we expect it and we will know it when it happens, just like in Noah's day.

The answer to your question is no.

However that doesn't stop people from trying to make that claim.

no one knows the day or the hour...

how can someone tell you when they don't know? Even Jesus was kept in the dark until just recently.
