I have to disagree with your statement, to a degree. I (as well as my husband) was dirt poor growing up, and although I (we)don't have hundreds of millions setting in accounts, I made sure every payday to put a little aside, built it up and started investing, we're now in a very comfortable position. Not that it happened over night. We did make a lot of sacrifices like not eating out or buying a soft drink every time we passed a store, we had everything we needed as well as our children, just not everything we wanted. If you want money you have to learn to control your spending and not buy a lot of unnecessary junk. Think of the money spent on going to the movies, having to wear the most popular and expensive name brands out there and the ridiculous amount of interest you pay on credit cards. The credit cards alone make a lot of people very rich and some very poor.
