No. Beer will not increase your supply. However, some lactation counselors recommend a glass of wine, not because it increases your supply, but b/c it relaxes you causes let down. I pumped for 4 months. The best thing is to pump really often. Every two hours and pump until you are completely empty. If you have a double pump, pump both sides at the same time. Your body responds to the amount drained and trains itself to make what it thinks the baby needs, so if you pump until completely empty your body will know it's not enough, if not your body thinks it is making too much. And if you don't pump often enough, your body thinks the baby isn't eating that often and slows production down. Think supply and demand, the natural version. There is a tea you can buy, I'm not sure what it is called, but it's supposed to relax you and stimulate let down. I pumped every two hrs and pretty soon I was getting extra and freezing it. Good luck. The shields are a good idea to try also, if they work then you won't have to worry about pumping.
