Unique, current bands that you think deserve more recognition?
I'm bored. I'd like to discover new bands. I'd like to hear bands that you think are unique, and deserve more recognision. Hit me with what you've got.
I'm open minded to most types of Rock, but I can't stand Pop-punk - so please, none of that.
*[Please link to a place that I can here the music - myspace, purevolume, youtube whatever]
Thanks and good day.
Just a few weeks ago, I was complaining about people that ask for band recommendations and here I am doing the same - wow.
*hear...urgh.
Haha, so much to get through. Thanks for all the answers guys, I'll be commenting on the bands I particularly liked in the next couple of hours. Or tomorrow, if I fall asleep too soon tonight. I must say - you guys have listed some great bands.
[Darth;] -hands tissue- I said that before you asked. Besides, my dear contacts are excluded from my whiney complaints, hehe.

Oh, I got lots of those.
Ours - Good band, definitely deserve more recognition. They kind of have a Muse/Radiohead sound going on. The singer Jimmy Gnecco also does some solo work, which is also good.

Local H - This band has a huge underground fan base and they're still putting out good music (at least I think it's good) so I'm not sure why they aren't more popular. Their myspace page isn't working for me right now (maybe it'll work for you), so I included two youtube videos.

Jack Off Jill - They should of gotten more attention during their career, excellent band that was basically overlooked. Of course, there's Jessicka's new project Scarling., but Scarling. just doesn't quite compare to JOJ.

Retrograde - A Canadian band that I stumbled across a few years ago, I was very impressed with what I heard. From what I understand, they're fairly popular in Canada... but have yet to break through in other Countries.

Apoptygma Berzerk - One of my all time favorite bands, though I'm not crazy about their last couple albums... their earlier work is much better.

Flesh Field - Excellent industrial band, not very well known though.
and of course... London After Midnight. I think you already know how much I love this band, Sean Brennan is really great at what he does and this band should definitely get more attention.
hehe, people that read my answers on a regular basis are probably wishing that I'd shut up about these bands, but they're among my favorites and I feel the need to get their names out there. :)
Edit:
Thought of another.. Snake River Conspiracy - Awesome band, though they haven't released an album since Sonic Jihad (2000) and Tobey (the singer) is in and out of the band. I'm not sure if she's currently in or out, but she does have a solo career going on as well. With or without Tobey I hope they release something soon.

I don't know how deep you want to go, but Stephen Malkmus, Wilco and Yo La Tengo instantly come to mind. I am a gigantic Stephen Malkmus shill though. Okkervil River and Apollo Sunshine are really awesome groups that don't get very much recognition, even less for Apollo Sunshine. It's funny I had heard them and thought they were a "hip pitchfork-y band" and was very suprised to find out that nobody really knew about them. I guess my friend just saw them open for someone or something like that. I'm sure that you can find any of these groups on youtube and myspace.
If you want to hear a good local band I would look into Franklin For Short. They're very good. I'm a pretty big shill for them though. I've seen them a bunch of times, the drummer is a buddy of mine, and they're really talented, but no one knows who they are...yet?

I love BC's answer. Jack Off Jill and London After Midnight are very good.
Wolfmother is a good rock band. They're not heavy or light, just rock. They're pretty popular, but I think that they definitely deserve more attention than what they get.

Hi Cinnamon.....Listen to Protest the hero. buy the album (they don't have it online). Kezia is the name of the album. The song Turn soonest to the sea is like an AMAZING song. It's really good rock, and I wouldn't give you bad judgement, so just go buy it, love it, and pick me as best answer lol!
