My grandfather started this company originally known as Bennett Woodworking with his friend in Manchester. His name was David Provan, born in Ayr Scotland. His partner Mr. Robinson was English. My grandfather had helped design and build the "Mosquito" reconnaissance airplane made from wood and canvass, during WW2.

David Provan mainly influenced the design of the furniture which came in white or black (stained) oak.
