Removing Adware off my computer forever?

Some how I got adware on my computer now ads keep popping up very often and I have to close them out other ads pop up and I cannot exit out of them. I have used a few programs such as Ad-Aware, Windows Defender and Mcafee to try and get them removed. All these programs seem to recgonize them but they for some reason are unable to remove them. They say they are removing them but then they seem to come right back. I am not going any places on the internet I haven't before so I don't believe it is a site I have visited. Does anybody have advice on how to remove this adware off my computer permently?

Update:

I hae also used CCleaner but that hasn't worked either.

You may have to download Hijackthis http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php and send the log file to a forum such as http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/

so it can be analyzed by the experts. Might need more info than you can post here. There may not be a program that works because they change adware and spyware all the time so you may have to remove it manually . That's why I reccomend sending the log file to a forum where they can help you get it off manually if nothing else works. They can even get around the safemode fixes now. You obviously have tried the usual stuff so you must have a really nasty one. If the popups you are getting say adsserve then you can uninstall them in add/remove programs or use the uninstall files in windows/system32 directory (yes this really works). Do a search on your computer for adsserve because they hide all over the place. Sometimes they hide things in your System Restore so it comes back when you reboot. You may have to shut off system restore until you get it fixed.

CWShredder (also on the same website as Hijackthis) is also a program that removes things the other ones miss but I suspect you will need something pretty specific since it seems you already have a good idea of what you are doing. Another tip I can give you is to do a search on the web for the files that are not being removed and it may point you in the right direction. That may not even help because they can rename themselves. Also, be careful about downloading every spyware program out there because some of them are put out there by the spyware and adware companies so you remove one and unknowingly install another one.

I've never failed to remove these but man, they can be miserable. Good luck.

Greetings. My name's Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.

A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimage™ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.

So open All Programs list, find Lavasoft and from here Ad-Adware. There is an option Uninstall.

Uninstall unwanted programs using Ccleaner Tools. Do not forget to click on Register to fix all registry issues after making backups. It should solve your problem. But I am curious. I have Ad-Adware 2007 (free addition) and never get any pop-ups. But I noticed you added that Ccleaner does not work for you.

A very simple way. Go buy a Mac, or, if you don't have the money or it isn't time to upgrade yet then just use Ubuntu instead of Windows, that won't require any new hardware.

Their is no way to NEVER have spyware until M$ releases an OS that is more linux like. The registry and DLL's and every way Windows operates makes it a natural haven for adware and viruses and etc. So as long as you have Windows, no way to stop them, I mean, you can try and do a good job, but it is a lot of extra time to protect yourself, when you could be doing something else, plus you have to upgrade AGAIN, to run all these anti-adware programs.

In the meantime, OS X Leopard can run on 6 year old systems just fine and Ubuntu can run fine on a Pentium 2.... plus they are both highly secure.

Ubuntu is completely free and all the software for it is free and it can run windows programs. Mac's start at $499 for a mini and $900 for n iMac, so they aren't as expensive as people say.

The best way is to download Ccleaner here http://bitly.com/UrALrK

Or you can go on Windows operating system locate the command prompt and go there to do the following:

Create a Recovery file of system and date it today.

    Then begin by;

delete the 'Temp' folders..they have hidden subfolders so you need to set the attributes in order to bypass this. For each subfolder delete all cookies and rubbish left behnd after install-uninstalled programs. Do a 'dir' command to check your progress. Make sure the 'Temp' file is empty.

goto c:\windows\prefetch and delete everything in there..no exceptions

goto c:\windows folder and delete all the '$' files that have been installed by updates. They can all be succesfully deleted and just take up disk space.

Locate the Internet Temporary Files..Check to see how high the saving level is..some have it set at 30 days..but that stores faaaar tooo much data..though it slows down the system overal. Keep this to a minimum..suggest 2 or 5 at most.

Delete all 'cookies' all those you don't need.

Locate the windows directory and go through the folders you know and those you don't need. Check this once a week at least. Some programs will install under XP as NT and older systems where there is no check of systems weight.

Check to see that system files have not changed since last booting. Things like .ini files or .bat are important items.

Check for 'Hidden Directories' all over the disk...do this at the command prompt:

dir *.* /ah wil show these hidden directories

Check the 'dir' command for all parameters
