What happens if I don't add water to my antifreeze?

I accidently put straight antifreeze into my car today. I went back and added some water, but I know a lot leaked out from the overflow valve. I continued to add water little by little despite it leaking from the overvlow valve. Will my car be ok?

Your little car will be fine. The only risk factor here is that the coolant won't give up its heat as well in the radiator, and will freeze a little higher temperature. Not a MAJOR issue.

The next time you top it off, add plain water to balance out.

    Good Luck and Merry Christmas

I have always heard that a 50-50 mixture of antifreeze and water has the lowest freezing point, but I'm no chemist. Nowadays you can buy pre-mixed 50-50 antifreeze to top off your cooling system if it gets low. Pure antifreeze is probably okay unless you live in the arctic.

If your car have straight antifreeze in it the boiling point will be so high that the engine will fail before overheating. You would have had to drain every last drop from the system to do this. If your coolant was down slightly and you topped it up with even 1 gallon it would not harm it at this point.

water is the solvent so there should be boiling factor elevation and freezing factor melancholy. Antifreeze is a non risky solute so once you upload it to the water, the vapor pressure will equivalent atmospheric pressure at a larger temp. Likewise, the freezing factor will decrease.

you might want to get the proper amount of mix in becouse straight antifreeze can crystlize in your engine and couse some damange 50/50 is always the safest when you by anti freeze by it premixed

YES, BUT IF IN THE WINTER WHEREVER YOU LIVE IF IT GETS COLD YOU SHOULD USE JUST STRAIGHT ANTIFREEZE. CAUSE OF COLDER CLIMATES H2O FREEZES. ONLY IN THE SUMMER CAN YOU H20 THE ANTIFREEZE DOWN.

Yes your car will be ok,I do it all the time and top it up with water when ever it needs it.

afetr a time it will be, if there is too much ethylene-glycol (antifreeze) the engine will actually overheat too quickly, because there is virtually no cooling

Straight antifreeze or coolant is what your supossed to use, what is this fixation with having water in it?

why put in so much that its leaking out? not to mention if you have any cats or dogs around that they will drink it and DIE!!!!
