First you need to find out what 1 eighth is, so divide 16 by 8, this is 2 squares. Then you can multiply this by 5 to tell you 5/8ths is - 2 x 5 = 10 squares.

    (5 / 8) * 16 = 10

divide the 16 sqares into eights. Each eighth will be 2 squares.
    16 / 8 = 2
now take 5 of those eights.
    5 * 2 = 10

Are you brain dead? 5/8 of 16 squares, 2x8 = 16, 2x 5 = 10 if you have difficulty taking it from the beginning really, how about removing your useless self from the gene pool, thicko speak kill yourself very soon.

    16X5/8 = 10 squares to shade

or If you mean 5/8 of a single square but there is a total of 16 squares; then shades a little more than half a square once you're done; do that 15 more times!!
    Eitherway...
got the right answer first..you gotta give it to me. :)
