Problems with "Internet Explorer 7"?

I have twice now attempted to downlaod IE7 form Microsoft, I have disabled my anti-virus, security, spy-ware etc prior to downlaod as instructed. But each time the programme is faulty - the minimise/restore/close buttons don't work, the windows fragment, and it is not possible to close from the tab in the taskbar. The only way I have been able to close the connection if to switch of PC with it open and then do a system restoreto get IE6 back.

Has anybody had similar problems or know what I am doing wrong? Or how to fix it? And is IE7 actually worth the effort?

IE7 is still in beta aka isn't finished, so it's still got some serious bugs. Even when it's done... being MS... it'll still have serious bugs.

Overall - most reviewers say IE7 is a rebranded Firefox.

Firefox is out of beta, free, smaller, sleeker, probably faster, more than likely more secure (as it doesn't allow ActiveX - a huge security hole). Firefox also blocks pop-ups and is incredibly customizable.

With all the free add-ons available - it has the potential to be the most powerful browser you'll ever use.

Example: with two add-ons you'll probably never see an iframe ad, a banner ad nor a flash ad again.

Most of the people I've talked to that have used Firefox like it immediatly, and then after using it for a while LOVE it!

Free Firefox add-ons to block iframe ads, flash ads, banner ads, etc:

    Adblock Plus - http://adblockplus.org/

Loads ready-made filters for Adblock Plus:

    Adblock Filterset.G Updater - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/

I have been using IE 7 for about 3 weeks now and I have had no serious problems with it overall. I did have some problems in the beginning, but they seem to have resolved themselves. I turned off my firewall(s) and shut down all other programs so as not to interfere with the download. I definitely like it much better than IE 6 because of the tab browsing and not having to open so many windows to look at different websites. The favorites are a nice feature also when bringing them up to use them. It is more user friendly to me and I use a computer all day for my job. I would say that it is worth having and to download it and give it a try. Don't give up on it because it will be great once everyone gets used to using it.

IE7 has just nicked the idea of mutiple tabs from is rivals mozilla firefox.. as people know microsoft like to dominate the market. i beleive that IE7 isn't worth the upgrade. i mean its just the beta release.when service pack 3 for Xp comes out then i guess Xp users all over the world will HAVE to upgrade. in the mean time stick to IE6, its safer than a beta release which may have bugs in it. if you require a mutiple tab browser firefox is able to download from download.com and it uses less resources of the computer such as ram compard to micrsoft browers.

I've been running it since it's release with no issues. It's still a beta program so be sure to submit your error reports.

Firefox is a great alternative with most of the same features. IE ripped all the good stuff off from them.

Soon IE7 will be released as a windows update. It might be a good idea to wait for then to run it.

The problem is that it's made by Microsoft. Use Firefox instead, it's much better.

It's Beta version, to try to see what it looks like and how it works not to complain about bugs.
