i can understand why someone would want to find out about their genes, but seriously, the donors donated an embryo to another couple, before it even became a baby.
i wouldn't say they were adopted, adopted means after you are born.
the donors probably never even saw themselves as parents and still don't now. they were more concerned about making someone else the child's parents.
unlike parents who gave their child up for adoption, not an embryo, sperm and egg donors probably don't feel as though they have a child out there that might come searching for them.
they also never gave birth to the baby.
i think it's better left alone in actually meeting the donors, imagine a woman who donated many, many of her eggs or a regular sperm donor? they don't see themselves as parents, they see themselves AS donors. but i always feel that the child should have total access to the donors medical history in the case of genetic disorders.
i think that if i donated my eggs i wouldn't expect tonnes of children to come looking for me and would see them as another person's that i helped to have a baby.
