  • Why do police and fire workers think they're special?

It's not like their job is hard. If you actually look at the personnel, more than half of them are very intelligent. Most of them don't even know the laws they're supposedly enforcing.

Hi, im going to Divi Aruba in june. I want to bring alcohol on the plane with me in my checked luggage. I am 17 years old and underage, the drinking age in aruba is 18. I am traveling with a friends family, and they are not strict on alcohol. I dont want to have to rely on my friends sister constantly getting us drinks, so a bottle to keep in my room will be great. I could put it in a listerene bottle with food dye if it helps. I want to know the legality issues with this, chances of getting caught, and just the overall possibility. PLEASE DONT LECTURE ME ON UNDERAGE DRINKING, we were all 17 at one point :)!

  • Do you think it’s okay when law enforcement investigates someone regarding a certain crime, but then finds a way to ‘get’ them for another?

Are process crime prosecutions okay with you, when they have nothing to do with what you were originally suspected of doing? Or does it make law enforcers look desperate to save face?

This is escalating, this person won't stop calling or contacting our child every day several times a day. We have to alert military superior and military police but we do not know what base this person is at. All we need is the base name to report them, we have this person's name and dob. If you are Navy and have access to the system to name search, please help us by finding the base name and we will have military take it from there!

Best answer: Your reference to magistrates' court suggests that you are in England or Wales. So I will answer for English law.

Arson is an extremely serious offence but what we have to consider here is how much damage you caused. You set fire to a public bin... if it didn't go any further, we can call this "minor damage". Now let's look at the magistrates' courts sentencing guidelines. They have to follow this so all courts do it right and we don't get wildly different sentences just depending on who the magistrates are.

This suggests the starting point for deciding sentence as a community order, with 12 weeks' imprisonment at the top end of the scale. Being drunk doesn't help because the court expects you to be in control of yourself, but "acting recklessly" can go against that. So my best guess is a community order, with some element of unpaid work as "community payback". You'll be under the supervision of a probation officer for a while.

Pleading guilty also helps reduce the sentence. And there is no point pleading not guilty without some really good evidence that you didn't do it. Not guilty means there will be a trial, and when at the trial the police tell the court what you did, what evidence do YOU have that it wasn't you? If it's obvious that a trial is going to find you guilty, then plead guilty in the first place.

I assume you have found a solicitor to represent you in court? If you haven't, get one and do it NOW! so you can talk this through with them. You will want someone to do the talking for you in court and they will know how to do it far better than you. It was my solicitor who told me about the sentencing guidelines "so this is what you can expect the sentence will be". He was pretty much right.

What I did was more serious than you - it went to Crown Court and I got 2 years' imprisonment - which means 1 year in prison, 1 year on probation - and I survived it. You probably won't go to prison, IF you do it'll be to a Young Offender Institution, and if you keep yourself to yourself and behave you'll survive it too. It won't be nice, but as I said it'll only be for a few weeks if the magistrates even think you should go there at all.

There is a thing in the sentencing guidelines about the custody threshold. Is what you did so bad that only being locked up for a while will do? I'm guessing it probably isn't. But DO talk about this with your solicitor. They will know best.

  • How to handle repeated scam phone calls from the same number identifying themselves a county sheriff and demanding $ for "missed jury duty"?

Of course, the payment demanded must be in the form of a prepaid gift card. I ask because the same guy has called three days in a row even though I've hung up on him when he starts to threaten that deputies are coming to arrest me unless I pay the fine now. Any suggestions?

The government should secretly build An artificial hell,it would be like just the way it is described on the bible, with chains, demons, fire, hot marbles, etc.... The criminal would be given the “letal injection” he would believe he was about to die, but that injection would not be letal at all, it would only make him sleep. He would then, wake up in the artificial hell, and believe he had died and was taken to hell, and would suffer all the punishments described on the bible till he finally died. What do you guys think?
