• I swallowed an ice cube whole, and haven't pooped it out. Please help?

A few hours ago I was chewing on some ice and accidently swallowed it. I'm concerned because it was a big size piece of ice, and I believe that it could be stuck in my asophagus or intestines. Should I see a doctor?

Best answer: I understand that he is your son and that he is family. Unfortunately, he does have a mental illness that needs to be looked after and treated by professionals. Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness and sometimes people with this disorder cannot cope in this world without the dependence of others. What might have to happen here is for your son to be placed under permanent psychiatric care. This is not to say that you will never see him again, you can see him and spend time with him any day that you like.

If your son is in permanent residence, you will never have to worry about him becoming homeless after your death or dying of starvation if he is unable to care for himself on his own. Depending on where he goes, he may even be taught how to reintegrate into society in a positive way while being semi - independent with a permanent caregiver.

Do not use this as a threat, but tell him that if he keeps threatening to KILL YOU, which is a very serious threat then this is how you are going to handle the situation. Sometimes, this is how you need to talk to a sixteen year old in order to get them to listen and sharpen up. Mental illnesses are a serious thing, we think we can help these people but sometimes it is simply out of our control because we are not professionals. I also tried taken care of someone with a serious mental illness on my own because I felt as a protector for him. Unfortunately, he severely used me and his condition to control me, so I had to eventually let him go and encourage him to get help on his own. All the best to you and I hope the answer comes to you soon enough. Make sure your son isn't controlling you in the way that I was controlled.

Best answer: My husband is a Cardiologist and he doesn't think you have anything to worry about because it would have shown up in your EKG.

He said your symptoms are that of a normal muscle strain or even just gas so the blood tests weren't necessary. The blood tests may have just picked up abnormalities in blood which may indicate cardiac stress but with a negative EKG & chest xray they weren't needed. If you had a history of cardiac issues, he would have order blood tests regardless of insurance.

If your EKG and/or chest Xray where consistent with a cardiac issue, you would have been admitted to the hospital for 24 hour observation and attached a telemetry monitor. Then referred to a Cardiologist who would have likely put one on you to monitor your heart for about 2 weeks where the cardiologists gets reports from the telemetry monitor attached to you through a phone connected to it that transmits the data to them. He had a patient with one this morning that he called them at home and told them to have someone drive them to the ER and meet him there, he had a room ready for them in the ER because of the reports he was getting from their monitor, he ended up putting a pacemaker/defibrillator in them a few hours later.

Also, while the ER/Urgent care physician was your attending physician a Cardiologist is who actually reads the EKG & Chest XRay results and makes the determination whether or not to admit you, not the ER/Urgent care physician. If additional tests were needed the cardiologist would have ordered them. So whatever cardiologist they consulted didn't find it necessary.

Age is irrelevant with a heart attack, he's treated children who've had them.

If you have flat feet, the rehab process may take longer, whereas the risk of injuring your ankle again is also high. In such cases, custom insoles like MASS4D® can help remove excess stress on the ankle and reduce the recurrence of ankle sprains.

  • Broken bones?

Best answer: Ice, rest it, elevate it, wrap with an ace bandage if you have one. Take NSAIDs for the pain and inflammation. Though if it hurts that much you need to see a doctor; if you do not get proper treatment you could end up with a permanent disability.

Best answer: The fact that you've lived for nine hours means that it should be fine in the morning, but if it isn't then get help immediately. Usually parents don't believe a child is hurt if they just do it out of nowhere, but if you keep asking them then they will answer. A doctor will look at it and make judgements. People hit their heads all the time. If you had brain damage, you would KNOW it. This wouldn't be some pinch but pain that would be unbearable. But best of wishes and doctors are expensive. But a good parent values his children over his money.

I suggest taking a shower if you haven't already. Showers are very calming and can help relax the body. Listen to some YouTube music if you have to. Maybe some hot tea. Kids get anxiety all the time. I know I did. But even after all of that if it still hurts, then get help immediately.

  • Pus coming out of a cut?

Best answer: If the wound is red, inflamed around the margins & painful to the touch, it's infected. If NOT, that's only normal drainage and no cause for concern.

However, there are rare cases where someone is rendered unconscious due to drugs or alcohol and those CNS signals are suppressed. So spending hours with circulation restricted can result in the limb "dying" and it has to be amputated. I know of one instance where a heroin addict lost both his legs bcuz of that.
