Two and a half years ago I broke my foot during track practice. I had a complete non-displaced fracture of my 5th metatarsal on my left foot. I went to an emergency clinic where my foot was examined and proved to be broken, judging from the x-rays. The doctor later referred me to a specialist and said that I should have surgery because it was unlikely for the bone to correct itself. The specialist said that I would not need surgery and would only need 6 weeks in a boot. I listened to the specialist and all of his instructions. At the end of the 6 weeks the doctor examined it (barely) and thought that it was fine. He didn't even order an x-ray or test to check the progress. I understand that I should have asked for another opinion from a different doctor but I trusted his diagnosis; I was wrong. Yesterday I went to hospital because I sprained my ankle and was in a lot of pain. There I found out that my foot was still broken, the ends of my bone weren't even attached for 2 years! I was forced to give up track & field because of the pain, I assumed that it was my foot still recovering from the break, not that my foot was actually still broken. The most recent doctor I saw said he has no idea how the specialist missed it and said that I shouldn't have been walking on it at all. Now I have to get surgery to correct the damages of the original break and walking on it for 2 years. I had no idea, the doctor told me I as fine.

  • Do I need to go to the doctors for this cut?

I managed to cut my hand with a broken piece of glass and the cut was deep enough to where I could see how thick the skin was but that s about it. It doesn t hurt and my hand doesn t hurt when I move it. The cut is about half a finger nails length (pretty small).

  • I swallowed a soda tab last night. I ve been eating bread and drinking water. When should it come out? Am I in danger?

Best answer: Eat normally. It will come out eventually. If the bread is white bread it won't help. Try eating vegetables; they have fibre. If you're eating mostly fruit and vegetables (a normal healthy diet) and it's not out in three days, you could talk to your doctor. But you might not see it for all the poop.

  • What can be done about broke finger?

Best answer: The hospital will x-ray it to check for complications. If it's a simple fracture they will tape it to an adjacent finger and may splint it.

I didn't think it was that bad and I kept snowboarding but by the time I got home my leg was so swollen I couldn't get my pants off my leg. My entire leg knee down is black and blue and I can semi walk so I don't think it's broken, but I can't feel it? Like It hurts but if I touch it I can't feel where I'm actually touching it i can only feel the throbbing pain underneath my skin. Is this normal for me to not feel myself touching my leg , given the circumstances?

I can't remember what happened right after I fell, except that I was disoriented for a moment. I felt kinda dizzy and everything was a lot brighter for a moment. I've had multiple people get a flashlight and test my pupils, and they said they were normal. But my headache isn't going away, even after taking medicine. Other than the slight dazed feeling I had and the pain, I have no other concussion symptoms.

Best answer: Cutters have highly dysfunctional, repressed personalities and are incapable of expressing emotions in normal terms. They internalize everything instead venting their feelings. The physical pain they inflict serves as a temporary distraction; a way to feel something else other than their own pent up frustration & anxiety.

For chronic cutters, it often becomes a compulsive habit. They develop a morbid, sadomasichist fascination for the gore & pain. They revel in watching themselves bleed and endlessly tinker with their wounds. Like all obsessive behavior, it makes no sense to a sane person.. which is why self-harm is a mental illness.
