Best answer: You are asking what people think, a personal opinion and that varies from person to person. Sadly many do look down on homeschoolers but it is more based on them not understanding homeschoolers. I was worried about judgements when my first child graduated homeschooling but she was welcomed into colleges with open arms. We are now experiencing the same with my second child. We have had no bad feedback what so ever from those in the education system. The only ones who make bad judgements against us are people who don't like homeschooling period.

One thing you may want to do to help you get an answer is join a local Facebook homeschool group. Ask people to share their experience when they go from homeschooling to local middle school. Hopefully you should get the names of people in the local school system to speak to and who to avoid if needed. Good luck

  • Should I home school a depressed teen?

Best answer: Only if you also seek medical treatment for your child. Homeschooling doesn’t cure depression, anxiety or any other psychiatric condition. If your child is left untreated and becomes isolated, it could worsen the depression

  • Why won't Democrats protest in favor of the caravan. Today the migrants were gassed with pepper gas and rubber bullets. Why?

They just want a better life and this is how you treat them? Where is your humanity America? What does America stand for if we treat migrants like this, and THE DEMOCRATS wont even protest?

I have very bad anxiety and depression and I feel like school just makes it worse. I am happy at home but when I start thinking about going back to school I usually just burst into tears. Whenever I m at school and in class, my palms get sweaty, I start shaking, and I feel nauseous. Sometimes I do throw up. If I wasn t so scared of making mistakes and feeling like a fool, then I would run out, screaming. I started looking for alternative schools and found some online ones. It was perfect for me! I would get a better education and get to stay home. I showed my parents and asked them if I could do it. They said I needed public school. It teaches you social skills and how to be a good future person. They also said I might procrastinate and they couldn t watch me while I was home alone. I was devastated. I don t feel anxious in other public places and I do fine home alone. I kept asking them until they finally said its not happening. I just feel like I would finally be happy doing this and not feel so stressed and tense all the time. I think this is the right thing for me. I really want to change my parents minds and show them how nice it would be. Any advice for me?

  • Before you go defending abolishing Electoral College as the decider of Presidential vote, did you know we are a Republic, not Democracy?

The crucial difference is that in a Republic, minority opinion is protected. Which is also why lower courts can make decisions that affect the whole country. It is called checks and balances.

Best answer: The only way to earn college credits as a high schooler is to take college classes. This is most often done through a local community college but can also be done at larger universities too.

A homeschooled high schooler that takes a college class will earn both a high school credit and college credits for that class. By doing this, a homeschooler can graduate his homeschool high school with college credit already to his name. Some even take enough college classes during their high school years to earn an Associates Degree by the time they finish high school.

Not sure what you mean by "sign off on his high school transcript." When my son took classes at the community college, I still kept track of his work and included the college classes as part of his high school transcript. He earned a high school credit for each class he took. That transcript (that included coursework/classes from both homeschool and the college) was then used when he applied at a major university. In his case, he had taken 3 college classes before high school graduation. That means that he started his freshman year at university with 9 college credits already completed.

The SAT can be taken as many times as one likes. Most colleges will take the highest scores, so there is no harm in taking it multiple times.

One other note: since high school homeschoolers are underage, the parent must sign their student up for any classes at the community college. They may require the student to take a "proficiency exam" in either (or both) english and/or math (depending on the courses being taken). They may also require the parent to sign a waiver of sorts stating that they understand that adult topics may be discussed in class and that no concessions will be made simply because a student is underage.
Just to clarify, a student does not need to have graduated high school in order to take a class at a college. The class will count as both high school credit AND college credit. My son attended his classes on the campus of the community college.
