    I had a virus/malware on my computer. I removed it, and the primary issue went away. But it appears that the malware has somehow integrated itself with the 'screen of my computer', such that if I remove the malware then the screen turns black. In safe mode the screen works, but in normal mode it does not. I do not wish to do system recovery as it will just result in the revival of the virus (that's what has been happening). i am confident that the malware has been removed, it's just that I need to do somethings to bring the screen back.

    Even better is to run it through a dedicated OE like Tails.

    Then, avoid surface web sites (especially major search engines), avoid cookies, and avoid allowed any website to run flash or java scripts.

    I recommend, for you not to rely on anti virus software. I relied a long time ago on anti virus programs, and it has caused me more grief, and more problems, so now I no longer use it.
