  • Too old to start figure skating?

I m 18 right now. For this season, my goal is freestyle two and then find a coach in June when I move for college. I would never be an olympic skater, I know that, but I d really like to try and get to nationals a few times (although I assume that wouldn t happen until my mid 20s, which I m okay with). But is it too late? Can I just train for years until I m qualified for the senior division? And also, could I make this a job? At what level will I be able to find sponsorships that turn this into a full time career, at least for my twenties? Thanks.

Has anyone ever driven a segway down a ski slope?

These things have been around a long time now. But I only see them at malls. With all the Daredevil snowboarding going on these days, I'm wondering if anyone has developed a Segway snow vehicle yet?

  • Do you think it was right for Tonya Harding to be banned from skating...?

It infuriates me that she was banned from skating for her life when the others barely got 2 years in prison. Skating WAS her life and it was taken away from her. The others involved, after serving there time, they could go back to their life. She couldn't.

I'm 14 years old and I quit figure skating nearly five years ago and I really regret it. I started skating I believe when I was around 6 but didn't get a private teacher till I was 7. My coach was amazing and the best at my rink, he was very tough but knew what he was doing. I can't remember how many exactly but I know atleast 3 of his students went to the Olympics. It was going well and I was getting close to mastering a single axel jump when he started to get really sick. He insisted he was fine and refused to go to the doctor but eventually he had to be hospitalized for liver failure. He nearly died but thankfully made it, however he did stop teaching. I got really discouraged and refused to pick a new coach so I quit. I haven't been on the ice, even just for fun since then and really hate myself for it. I had so much potential but blew it because I couldn't adjust to a new teacher, I want to start again but feel like it's too late. I know I'll never make it to the olymics (probably wouldn't have anyway) but is it possible for me to get back into it and be atleast somewhat good?

If you can't go skiing by yourself, find someone in your class and confide in them about what happened last time and that you want to go and have fun but you are nervous. Ask if they will hang out with you part of the time while you get your courage back.
