Best answer: You should, especially since you show an interest for it. Personally I find volleyball to be the most entertaining sport to play and even though you’ve never been on a team before I’m sure that if you demonstrate skill and dedication every thing will go your way. I think you shouldn’t be worried about if they will be interested in you because in the end it’s about giving everything you have on the court and if you don’t get in the team you can keep working on getting there. Sports are truly about practice, dedication, responsibility, and passion. Passion can sometimes be the difference between a good player and a great player.

I still do this day play volleyball with my friends when we get together for an evening, but it's the lighthearted, fun time I feel it should have always been. Trophy's and fighting over positions was never fun for me, and stressed me out. After dropping them all, no matter what game I pick up, it is always fun. Nothing wrong with that.

  • Do I HAVE to wear spandex for volleyball?

So I'm doing volleyball for the first time and I'm not sure what to wear. I absolutely do not want to wear spandex since 1) I'm extremely conservative 2) I don't feel very comfortable wearing them in front of so many people. What do I wear instead?

Best answer: You've been playing for a year and a half and you still haven't learned that spiking is done at the net? What you're talking about is an overhand serve.

Here's a link with some instructions for serving overhand. It's not hard. I taught myself, and in not very much time. I think I pretty much got it the first time I tried, not that it was great, but I didn't fault. Anyway, you should be able to learn how to do it well enough to always get it across the net if not the first time the second time in a single session, in an afternoon. Just go to a gym or where there's a volleyball net with a bucket full of volleyballs and practice by serving one right after the other. You can also learn to do it, or at least get the muscle memory for doing it down, by practicing overhand serves at a tennis court with a tennis racket and a basket full of balls. The motion is almost identical.

Now learning to but some English on it, putting spin on it so that it bounces unpredictably when your opponent tries to return it, that's harder.

  • Joining a volleyball team?

I’m in 7th grade and have no volleyball experience I really wanna join a volleyball team but I feel like my skills are lacking and if I were to tryout I would be the worst one there. Is there still a chance for me to join a team and somehow improve my current (nonexistent) skills?

  • Is volleyball a "real" sport?

Best answer: It's very much a sport. I'll admit I only usually watch it during the Olympics, but their athleticism is impressive as heck to block one of those spiked shots and then get that kind of aerial jump to spike it back. The beach volleyball looks even harder!
