Best answer: Laws vary by state but many, especially California, tend to lean towards the rights of the live-in partner. Whatever he legally signed over to his spouse is probably off limits to you, but you should have rights over many of the things you held jointly while living together. I suggest contacting family law attorneys to see if one can give you a free or low-cost consultation. Many local courts also have "resource libraries" where you can go and research topics like this for no charge.

I know there is a ‘disturbing the peace’ law, but I have my music playing during the day. Sometimes he actually walks onto my property and attempts to turn my music off himself. If he tries this again, could I legally use my gun to simply scare him off? Like I won’t fire it off or anything, but i would pull it out to spook him to where he will leave me alone.
