As you said, playing a better game, does not automatically mean victory, cuz if your oponent is clearly in a higher league, he will win no matter what.
That being said, it concludes, you should always seek to play vs better players, to up your own game, and learn. You can not learn from people playing worse then you.

Best answer: So your opponent has done very little in this case. They've developed their kingside knight to f6, a good square for it, but other than that they've only moved their queen randomly and put their light bishop on b7 (good square for it) then on c6 (good square for /it/, but bad square because it wasted a tempo (turn) and slows down their queenside knight's progression).

You (white) made 8 normal, good moves (though pawn to d4 would've been nicer than d3 if able) and 1 passive move (pawn to a3 accomplished nothing in this case, but isn't a 'bad' move).

Black must've wasted 4 more moves by simply going back and forth, but overall they've made 1 good move (Nf6) which can be taken away by playing 10. e5! forcing it away.

White has many options, but a general idea after e5 would be d3-d4, Qe2 (or maybe Qd2), Rad1.

You have more developed pieces (considerably more) so it's in your best interest to open up the position. Any pawn exchanges favor you, even if you lose 2 pawns for 1, because they allow your active pieces to generate an attack. I would just storm my d-pawn up to d5 then play e6 if he never moves his pawns, this forces him to open it up by taking on e6 or leave it, allowing us to take on d7/f7 and then our Queen+Rook on the e-file are threatening his un-castled king (or if it has castled by then, threatening to take the e7-pawn. If he's still well-fortified, my knights or bishops should have a good target to swing around towards.

Best answer: Chicken Cha Cha Cha was bought for my eldest son when he was five, but the youngest (aged 2) joined in and played along well to the rules. The rules are pretty simple and the game is played using a "memory" style game system that is used to let the players move their large, colorful, wooden playing pieces around the "board" (actually a circle of egg-shaped cards) to catch each other and steal the other player's tail feathers. It really is a very charming game and great for getting kids into playing well and following rules.

Ghost Blitz, or any of it's sequels, also goes down well with pre-school children, thanks to the tactile parts and the fact that players are racing to spot a connection (or lack of connection) to the pictures shown on the cards turned over. It's been played in our house less than Chicken Cha-Cha-Cha, but is still liked.

The undisputed king in our home is Rhino Hero. The concept is almost like Jenga in reverse, players draw a card and that becomes the next 'floor' in an apartment building. Players have to place walls in the right places to place the card, following special instructions in some places, including moving the wooden "Super Rhino" piece to a higher floor, which may unbalance the tower.

Our youngest is now four and has played all of these games over the last two years and still plays them now. The advantage of these is they are far more stimulating for the adult playing with them than 'roll and move' fare.
