• How can a 20- something guy not know how to change a tire.?

I was walking to my car on campus and hear what sounded like an argument between a guy and girl. The girl is like "what do you mean you can't? Just change the tire." He responds "how? I don't know how to change a tire!" she then goes "just jack it up and unscrew the bolts." Then he cringely responds "what's a jack?" So as the good samaratan I am, I stepped in and asked if they needed help changed the tire for them. But when I asked where his tire iron and Jack was in his car, he didn't know where or what I was talking about. So I had to rummage through the back and remove. The girl was harsh though, she kept saying how little of a man he was for not knowing how to change a tire and that he should be like me. She even gave me a kiss on the cheek when I refused to take any money. Now, what I'm concerned about is not him changing a tire, but what are they teaching my peers? I'm no saint, but I feel I could do well on my own. I mean, if you can't change a tire, how are you going to maintain a car, which leads to greater thing? And I don't think he's the only 20- something who can't change a tire, it's my whole generation of millenials. PS, it made it funnier that he was wearing a frat shirt that said "Proud Beta"

My mom keeps telling to stop, but I want to keep this truck in good condition. I was just wondering if it's bad. I always use mobil 1 5w-30 high mileage oil and a mobil 1 filter. Am I over maintaining? Part of it is wanting to keep the truck alive. The other is I just like working on my car and find changing the oil fun and manly. This truck is my baby. It's almost as old as I am. I'm 22 and the truck is 15 almost 16.

Someone I know told me it could be due to putting the radio on when the car is off or keeping the air switch on when the car is off. I never leave the air on. I do sometimes listen to the radio. When I started my car one day, I noticed a slight hesitancy and I thought it was not going to start but eventually it did. It ended up running well. Yesterday though, my car battery completely died. I was upset about it because I just got the car last year. I have given it oil changes and whenever the check light for the tires comes on, I get them filled with air. I've been diligent with keeping up with the car. I cannot afford to get a new battery just yet and have to wait until I get paid. Do batteries die that fast? What causes a car battery to die?

Once I finally got out of the driveway, I noticed the lit up brake and immediately realized I didn't turn it off. I barely went more than like 10-15 feet, will everything with my car still be okay or do I need to take it somewhere to get it checked?

My car's quite old so it may just be one of these things, had an MOT about 5 months ago. It's also been far more frequent in the cold/wet weather. Just looking to see if I need to spend lots of cash on it before Christmas or can wait a while!

Best answer: I can confirm that all the aftermarket brands I've used don't last long (I've tried different brands and stores, can't remember them all.) Every year I'm having to replace mine because they don't make OEM ones for my car anymore. Basically every winter the boots get hard and break open, then get washed out with mud and snow and then fail. I've tried replacing just the boots by checking them weekly or even daily during the winter and taking the CV joints apart, cleaning and regreasing them and replacing the boots immediately after they break but they seem to just go and burst open again. But we do get temperatures as low as -40F though. But in my 5 year old Nissan the OEM boots and CV joints look great.

I just bought a used car from a dealer and the car comes with alloy wheels and summer tires. This is my first car and going to be my first time driving in winter. I know I need to replace all four summer tires with winter tires but is it advisable to also change the alloy rims that comes with the car or no? I heard steel rims are best for winter and I don’t know. Is it worth the extra money? I was hoping to just change the tires and leave the rims so I can save money but now it seems it might be best to change the rims also to something stronger like steel. My other questions What do I need to do to prepare my practically brand new, used, car for winter? Do need to change the windshield wipers that are currently on the car to winter blades? Also I heard people say windshield wipers and fluid flush but I need someone to please outline it for me like every single thing that I need to do so I can feel confident knowing that YES my car is obsolutely ready for winter. I know this seems like a lot to ask but you’ll be helping me out greatly with your knowledge of how this goes. And feel free to share anything else. Thanks
