"An interesting bit of trivia is that the first American Thanksgiving was actually celebrated on September 8, 1565 in St. Augustine, Florida. The Native Americans and Spanish settlers held a feast and the Holy Catholic Mass was offered. A second similar "Thanksgiving" celebration occurred on American soil on April 30, 1598 in Texas when Don Juan de Oñate declared a day of Thanksgiving to be commemorated by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass." So it came from Catholics celebrating Mass. The pilgrims were aware of the tradition, but the pilgrims at plymouth rock was not the first thanksgiving. They borrowed it from the Catholic settlers.

  • Can I still be a Christian if I vote for a child molestor for senate, just so a democrat can't get the seat?

I know, it's horrible, but I feel like deep down he might not have done it. I know there's records of him being kicked out of shopping centers and malls because of this, and some run ins with the law, but I just want to feel like Republicans should win this. Does this make me a bad person?

The Bible contains many examples of religions that displease God. Category 1: Worshipping false gods The Bible describes the worship of false gods with such terms as “delusion,” “futility,” and “useless.” Jehovah * God commanded the ancient nation of Israel: “You must not have any other gods besides me.” When the Israelites worshipped other gods, “Jehovah became enraged.” God still has the same attitude toward the worship of such “so-called gods.”He commands those who want to worship him to stop associating with those who practice false religion, saying: “Get out from among them, and separate yourselves.” Category 2: Worshipping the true God in a way he does not approve At times, the Israelites worshipped God using beliefs and practices borrowed from the worship of false gods, but Jehovah rejected this attempt to mix true religion with false. Jesus condemned the religious leaders of his day because of the way they worshipped God; they made an outward show of being religious, yet they hypocritically “disregarded the weightier matters of the Law, namely, justice and mercy and faithfulness.” Religion that is based on truth leads to God. This truth is found in the Bible. Religions whose teachings conflict with the Bible actually steer people away from God. Many teachings that people think come from the Bible—including the Trinity, the immortal soul, and eternal torment—were borrowed from those who worshipped false gods.

    Best answer: Hey Beacon,

I always warn Christians to use caution when they reference Roman historians. Roman antiquity is filled with inaccuracies and simply insane Caesars going back and changing historical accounts. It is not reliable. I know of nobody who has studied Roman antiquity and become a Christian as a result.

Another thing to remember is how blind false pride can make a person. Pharaoh had all the evidence a man could ever want and still hated God. He could not deal with the idea of someone or something higher than himself. We are dealing with micro-Pharaohs. These people want to win million dollar contests by having God come down and perform tricks for them. Their burden of proof has been planted in them by advertising and media.

Any person who demands evidence of God should have a flashing neon sign over their head with an arrow pointing at them that says "Godless consumer drone". Only people ruled by consumerism believe they are entitled to "evidence" regarding faith. They have been raised to push buttons and get immediate results. If they push the button and nothing happens it is either broken or a lie.

The vast majority do not seek evidence. The word has lost any meaning when used by them. They want justification and to confirm what they already believe. But every once in a great while you will find someone willing to test the evidence of our faith. And I am sure you have shined when that chance has presented itself to you. Keep up the good work and do not be discouraged by the people mouthing the word evidence without knowing what it means or why they say it.

Why because the biggest liar in history said so?? ( hence everyone who died in ww2 must be added to the Christian side?) Stalin was both a Christian and an atheist. Now add up these statistics for the atheists now!!

Stalin had an excellent saying for these silly people though

A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.

  • Was Satan thrown out of heaven and cast down to earth in 1914 and is it biblical to suggest Jesus started to reign as King in October 1914?

I've found this teaching in the Jehovah's Witness Bible Teach book but I fail to understand what Jesus has been doing for the past 103 years if he has been ruling from heaven all this time. Is this a biblical teaching?
