• Why do I suck at my job?

I work hard but I make mistakes, stupid ones. I know I have to pay attention to detail but since my work is so fast paced it’s hard to overlook everything. How can I not suck?

  • Applied for a job and recieved a call 30mins later?

Hi, I literally applied for a job about 30mins ago and recieved a missed call from the employer saying they would like to discuss my application further. What does the entail? What can I expect? I am a little nervous as I did not expect response that quickly and caught me off guard a little. Thank you.

I'm well aware the retirement age is creeping further and further up in age bc of the economy but I don't understand why people wouldn't start their career right outve high school and skip ahead instead of spending 5 years in school and possibly 1-2 years searching for a job post college graduation. I'm still a teenager and settled in with my construction job already. I'm not blind to the reality that construction is going to shave off several years of my life and I'm going to have health problems when my 40's come but I'm not afraid of all of that because I know it will be short lived at the end of my career and I'll retire at 50 years olds. Anybody else think working hard labor starting as a teenager and putting in their 30 years is worth more than working 40 years at a desk job and graduating college with $25,000+ in debt

I used to work at Walmart and made $10 an hour there but quit because the managers were complete jerks to me for no reason. There is a different Walmart not far from where I live and I have heard the managers are nicer there and that the store is run better. I don't want to quit my current job because I like it but I need to be making more money if I can because minimum wage is just not cutting it for me. I want to quit and try to get hired at Walmart but at the same time I don't want to because I like the job I currently have. What should I do?

She insulted me countless times and I took most of her comments without reacting badly. Some comments though were extremely rude. So I finally had enough, and wrote up my letter of resignation the following evening. I handed it in the next day and offered two weeks notice even though I could barely stand the place. It was making me depressed and I stopped eating properly. When I handed it in, I noticed a complete change in attitude. Suddenly she was acting nice. She told me she's just stressed and was taking it out on me. She said she doesn't want me to leave. As much as her attitude is what was driving me away, I told her the reason I'm leaving is because the work isn't for me and I'm not the right fit...blah blah. She basically convinced me to sleep on it. Why didn't she just kick me out and tell me she'll find someone else? I said I'll think about it. That conversation happened a month ago. I've decided to give it another go. I'm not sure whether that's the right decision. I don't want to go back on the job hunt. The work is alright and for the most part I'm treated fairly and even complimented at times but I still get paid peanuts. Could I ask for a raise? I guess I'm just asking: What should I do?

  • Would you agree: American society has gone to he--?

It seems ludicrous we send our kids to 4 years (6 years these days) of college just to work minimum-wage, and then work your way "up the corporate ladder" for 5 years+ so they can finally move out of their parents house by the time they are 30. Then they get their careers ripped out from under them and have to return home again. This has become normal here in southern California. Maybe, its different in your state. Plus, college-dorms are horrifically-expensive and always packed so good-luck with that. ____ Why bother anyone more?

For ex the total was 100 and they give you 150, but on the machine you put in they gave you 200.. As long as you give them the right amount of change back which is 50 dollars would you be ok??

One co-worker however insists that he doesn't need any help when I offer, even in the slightest, no matter how large or small the task may be even if he's starting to fall way behind. However I've realized that he will gladly allow pretty much anyone else to assist him when he starts falling behind, or even when he doesn't need help. I confronted him about this, and he accused me of being racist. This is completely untrue, and now I realize that he may try to get me fired, so my question is this. What if I said he accused me of being racist because I'm gay?

  • Asked for a raise. How long does it take for an answer?

Best answer: DOn't expect an answer right away. Giving someone a raise means finding money to pay it with. That also may mean your boss needs to ask THEIR boss. You might use the time in between to show them why you are worth it. There's a huge difference between wanting one and being worth it.

So I hope by now they see that I have good work ethic and really do want this job. My uncle is getting pretty sick and my family has scheduled to go to Texas to see him in a few weeks. I'd miss 3 work days. I've seen my other co-workers call out for some pretty silly reasons and be fine (even some newer ones). How should I bring this up with my boss?
