    If you're an EU citizen legally living in the UK for example, no work visa or permit is required. You just find a job.

    Best answer: You should get a bill from HMRC, assuming you are registered. (The basic Class 2 self-employed rate is presently £2.80 per week).     It used to be possible by monthly direct debit - existing ones still work but it appears from that page that it's not possible to create a new one.
