• Can I take my turtle to another country?

Best answer: I doubt it. Any live animal has to go thru hoops and red tape to transfer to another country. Turtles can carry salmonella and other parasites, so its very unlikely you would get the necessary paperwork, etc. to take him with you.

I would look for a friend or relative that would be willing to take him for you.

Hello all. So for the past month I have had a snake at my local pet shop reserved, and have been getting the money together. I went out to go and buy him today with my mother. My mother unfortunately brought up the fact that in the past I’ve had suicide attempts and bad mental health issues, even though it’s not her, or the shopkeepers, business. She just brought it up without asking me. The shopkeeper then decided that even though we had the cash upfront, he wasn’t going to sell us the snake because we sound like irresponsible pet owners (because of the mention of my mental health issues). I own two snakes already, various other reptiles, and two dogs. I am more than experienced and definitely not an irresponsible pet owner. Is he allowed to not sell me an animal just because of my mental health issues? Sounds very discriminating to me. What should I do? I really want that snake.

  • Can a leapord gecko give you salmonella if it bites you?

    Best answer: No.
People sometimes get salmonella from reptiles by putting the reptile in their mouth, or by forgetting to wash their hands after handling one. But not usually even then. I never washed my hands after handling a reptile, and I never got salmonella.

Best answer: I'm actually pretty appalled at all the negative responses to this question. I don't know anything about you so I don't believe you are ungrateful, here is what I have to say though.

Ultimately your parents DO have the final say in this situation because you are living in their house so if they really don't want an iguana, unfortunately there is not much you can do.
If you are extremely committed to this and are positive that you will be able to provide for all of an iguana's necessities now and up to 20 years in the future, then continue to show to your parents how responsible you can be without getting frustrated with them and they may see that and change their mind. Otherwise you may just have to wait until you live on your own.

Regardless, your leopard gecko and tortoise are both very unique critters which require their own level of commitment, the tortoise itself living for more than 50 years. Please continue to take care of them as they depend on you!

    Good luck!

  • Is it okay to put a snake in a take way larger than it needs?

I plan on getting a corn snake soon and I already have a tank--but it's 60 gallons. I know that a 20 gallon tank is big enough for an adult corn snake. I plan on getting a baby and I'm scared that the tank will be way too big. Do I need to get a smaller enclosure? If so, just until the baby is big enough or... show more
