• Which is a better buy; Jeep Wrangler 2018 JL Sport S or Sahara?

Best answer: Really depends on which options you want from factory. Mechanically, they can be the same. Most hard-core Jeepers will modify with aftermarket parts, so the cheaper models are a better starting point.

Best answer: If your Jeep does have power steering, its a different system than the type you would see on todays car. It's not a rack and pinion steering system. It should have a gear box, or power steering gear. (If you're positive its not power steering, it should still be relatively the same and will still have a gearbox) Over the years the inside of the gearbox wears down and isn't as tight as they were. If you look under the hood and follow the steering column downward towards the wheels, you should see a box that the column goes into. On the box there's most likely a flat head adjuster screw inside a nut. Loosen the nut, and turn the screw clockwise 1/4 turn. Tighten the nut back up and test drive it. If it's not tight enough, do another 1/4 turn until it feels good. This is only a bandaid to the problem, and it will return within a year or so, if it foxes it at all. The gearbox will need to be replaced as it is worn. Hope this helped.

  • Wrangler YJ: is the thermostat a generic one?

Best answer: Thermostats are fairly generic - one type fits many cars (specifically engines) - but unless you know for certain, just get one known to fit your engine. I wouldn't buy a genuine part from Jeep. A good quality aftermarket one will be fine. Car manufacturers don't design a new thermostat for each engine. They use a suitable commercially available product from a partner supplier - it's cheaper to use something already being made in the thousands. Then they repackage them and double the sale price.

My friend (who is very knowledgeable about cars, but not Jeeps) says the "5000 pounds" includes any and all weight inside the vehicle as well, and not only the weight of the trailer. I am asking this because I am moving, and I want to utilize as much storage space possible, I was hoping to load the cab completely full and then tow a uhaul trailer that was (fully loaded), just under 5000 pounds.

  • Question about a Jeep?

I'm buying a car soon and don't want to pay over $7,000 as it'll be my first. I don't expect a Jeep to be my first car but if I found one from late 90s or early 2000s would it still be reliable? I've heard they are but just want to make sure. Thanks!

I noticed after starting the car it would start then it would stall out. The radio would go in and out and, finally the car would shut off completely. Now it will not start at all. It turns over fine. I m thinking it has something to do with the sensor or the computer for the engine. I did some research on a few Jeep forums. It seems to be a reoccurring issue. Anyone have any similar experiences? If so, how did you resolve the issue?

  • Should I get a Jeep Wrangler YJ or TJ?

Best answer: You haven’t said what motor is in either. If either one is a 4 cylinder, don’t buy it. They’re really under powered. The 6 cylinder 4.0L is a great motor though, with proper maintenance it’ll last a long time. A manual transmission is a plus as well. The TJ rides better than a YJ due to its coil overs vs the leaf springs on a YJ. It also has far more creature comforts. Given the age, the TJ May be the better option if it’s a 4.0L. There’s a ton of used parts and accessories out there for both models but TJ prices have come down a lot in the last few years while YJ prices have remained fairly constant. If you ever wanted or needed to buy doors, fenders or different tops, you’ll pay about the same for both models.

  • I need a 90's 4wd midsized suv... The options are a 1994 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 or a 1995 isuzu rodeo 4wd... Which one is better?

Best answer: The Jeep is a truck, the Isuzu is a car with a big body on top of it. I'm not sure why people keep saying Jeeps will be in the shop all the time. I'm on my third and the exact opposite has been true. Mine now is a 95 Grand Cherokee with 106K miles and it just keeps on going.
