My aunt (52) and I (19) will be taking our first long distance road trip next month. We'll be traveling from the Orlando area all the way to Los Angeles where we'll be staying a for a few nights before going south to San Diego. We plan on taking our time getting out there and not pushing a drive longer than 8 hours which shouldn't be no problem if we both put in hours. Her boyfriend will be flying in to L.A and will help us drive back which is a great help. I just want to know if there is any part of I-10 that is sketchy or dangerous. You hear stories about late night travelers getting carjacked or what not but from what I've read so far, it doesn't seem to sound true. Most people just say to stay on the roads and it's usually pretty safe. We know to keep the car fueled. But I do know cell service is limited in certain parts and gas stations might be spaced out a bit. Is there any stretches of road that we need to be aware of or warned about? I tend to be a little paranoid, especially in desolate areas. But this will be my first time where I'm literally in the middle of nowhere. With that aside, is there any small little places worth stopping for that aren't on the map? My aunt loves those and I'm not sure if we'll ever get to do this again for awhile so I wanna pack as much as I can in this trip. Any long road trip travel tips? Like what to bring for the car ride that will make me comfortable? Thanks!

Carry on must fit in overhead compartment or under seat in front

They are not super-strict about carry-on as long as not disturbing other passengers and there is extra room.
You can take your backpack and if it does not properly fit in the overhead, it has to be put with the luggage storage under the bus.

  • Can I take my backpack as a Carry on and not be charged in a greyhound bus? I'm only taking my backpack and I'm not sure if I'll be charged?

Here are the rules: One small bag is permitted on board the bus for each child and adult passenger. The bags must fit in either the overhead compartment or under the seat. Best answer: I am assuming you are traveling from or within the U.S.

1.) Will I have to take my engagement ring, earrings, or necklaces off at Security?

    + engagement ring .. No.
    + earrings .. No.
+ necklaces .. No. (Some necklaces do alarm on the body scanner. Instruction: If it falls far below the neckline, swing it to the back. Should it alarm, the inspection is trivial.)

2.) "Can I take an unopened razor in my carry- on?"

Am assuming a disposable razor where the blades is encased in plastic then it can be brought as carry-on. See link.

    https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/disposable-razor

3.) "Will they search my bag if there is a bunch of tampons in there?"

No. If your bag is flagged for an inspection it will be due to something else.

4.) "I just don't want to be embarrassed by tampons falling out -_-"

You may ask for a private screening meaning the inspection will be done out of public view. (If it makes you feel any better, I've screened hundreds of ladies carry-on bags with tampons, pads, and Depends. Nothing interesting. Nothing to gawk at. Just another day at screening.)

Please see link for more information:

See this search engine if you are curious at what is or is not allowable on board:

  • Where can I get a sleeping bag wide enough for 10 people?

I plan on hosting a get together but only have my sleeping room for the 8+ guests. I figure I can use a sleeping bag for everyone but it would be most convenient space wise if everyone slept in the same bed/sleeping bag. Can someone help me find a wide enough sleeping bag for my guests.

  • I’m going on my first plane trip in June and I’m kind of confused about what I’m allowed to pack. Can you give me some tips?

I’m taking a suitcase and a carry on. How big is a carry on bag? If you could list some things I should/shouldn’t take that would help me immensely.

As for clothes wear what you like. It's going to be hot and even in the very nice hotels people don't dress up all that smart unless they are there for a special dinner.

The kiosk is the electronic machine in the lobby where people can check in without involving a person. They are at pretty much every US airport. Starting overseas, you will probably check in with an actual person.

  • How much merch money should I bring to a convention?

I'm attending a con soon, and I am unsure how much money I should bring. I am rather broke, but would $50 be enough? I'm not planning on purchasing expensive figurines or large items. I'm looking into smaller items, like stickers, buttons, or keychains. Thank you.
