What supplies would I need? The ground is pretty hard. Would I have to till up the whole thing? Add more soil? What could I plant? Can you only do it certain times a year? Could I use chickens to eat the bugs instead of pesticides? I live in Texas, where it's very hot and rarely rains, if that matters. Thank you!

  • Basil leaf question?

Does anyone know how to store fresh basil leaves? I started a herb garden outside and I have two sizable basil plants, however due to a number of circumstances I barely used any of the leaves. Can I dry them in a dehydrator? Can I freeze them? What can I do with them?

  • What to do about a neighbor who put up a double fence?

So a new neighbor in the house behind mine put a new fence up with my fence already there to begin with. Both are chain link fences. The grass that is getting in between it is getting out of hand. Not sure how to handle the situation. I have never even met the neighbors behind me.

Essentially I would have no grass. What are the steps to fixing the lawn? Should I just weed and feed and let everything die and then reseed the lawn? I have no idea. Someone guide me please.

  • Why are leaves and full branches of healthy leaves falling off my lemon trees?

Best answer: If stressed they will drop leaves, fruit and in extremis branches. It's the tree trying to survive. Lemon trees are more sensitive to the cold than other citrus, and need protecting from frosts. That might be what has happened.

  • Do you like mowing the lawn?

Best answer: Yes. Have always taken pride in the job I do on the lawn. I live in an area where almost everyone has gardeners doing the lawns, but I still like doing it myself. Now, as for painting, forget about it.
