Best answer: Yes - I fast regularly. There's a lot of stigma with fasting due to anorexia, but if especially if you are overweight fasting can be beneficial. Also, I find fasting brings me focus and energy in the morning which is why I intermittently fast daily (I don't eat for 14-18 hours) and on weekends I typically go a full day or two. There is lots of evidence for fasting being good - just don't get carried away. The human body was not naturally made to eat 3 times a day -- in a more primitive setting if the human body needed to eat that much to survive it would be super inconvenient and difficult to live, as finding food was typically on a hunt and catch basis.

However you may not need to fast if you are just worried about one day of eating too much, sometimes if I eat too many calories one day (like over 150/200 cal) I subtract that from the next day's calorie intake.

I’m a vegetarian but I don’t consume that much protein. I’d say about 30g daily max. What kinds of diet changes would you suggest for slimming out my torso & getting rid of my bell fat? Would increasing my protein intake help? Is it possible to lose a little bit of belly fat without an intense exercise regime? I just work so much that I rarely have the time or energy to exercise. But I’m open to trying to work more exercise into my schedule. What do you suggest for getting rid of a little belly fat?

Best answer: Diet is key, even more important than exercise. I found that I can quickly lose body fat by making some very small changes:

    - Cutting out white bread and sugar. Cutting out sugar is tough at first but once you stick with it, you'll find that it becomes hard to eat things high in sugar as they'll taste overwhelming. I also find eliminating sugar means I never have severe hunger pangs, especially in the mornings.

    - Drinking lots of water. Your body can confuse hunger with dehydration. If you find yourself hungry for no good reason, try drinking water and waiting 20 minutes.

    - Don't eat late i.e. just before going to sleep. Try eating dinner at a reasonable hour.

    - Stick to lean meats, vegetables, and fruit. You don't need to go crazy and treat this as a diet, it's remarkably easy to do, unlike some fad cabbage soup diet.

As with everything, moderation is key. Having a chocolate bar one day isn't going to magically destroy all your progress but having ten of them will.

He said that he had 2 sandwiches that he d packed for lunch but that was it so I asked if I could have one. He gave me the sandwich and I ate it but I still felt hungry so I asked him if he was even going to eat the second one and he said that he was going to eat it later but that I could have it if I want. I felt greedy because he s a really skinny guy already and he said he doesn t ever breakfast so me eating his lunch means he ll only get to eat once today whereas I ve had breakfast, his lunch, and I m probably going to make my own lunch too. Best answer: 1. Don’t diet: eat for the weight you desire to be.

    2. Look up a BMI calculator, plug in your height and weight, and see if you are overweight.

    3. If you are overweight, see an M.D. to rule out physical concerns.

    4. Rough estimate of desired weight range: Men 106 lbs + 6 lbs for every inch more than 5 ft., plus/minus 10%. Women: 100 lbs + 5 lbs for every inch over 5 ft, again, plus/minus 10%. There are more complex methods, but this is a rough start.

    5. Multiple your desired pounds by 2.2 to to get your weight in kilos. Then, your maintenance calories are 30gms calories per kilo weight. If you are very physically active, you can increase that to 33gm. There are some great apps that will figure this out for you.

    6. Daily eat: 5–7 servings fruits/vegetables (1/2 cup or 1 piece fruit). 4 or five meat equivalents, about 4 ounces each (meat, legumes, yogurt, cheese, etc.) 5–6 1/2 cup servings high fiber carbs. Read the label: I usually look for a minimum of 3gm fiber per slice of bread or bowel of cereal, but there are many brands with a lot more.

    7. Exercise daily. It won’t burn a lot more calories, but as you build more muscle, you’ll look trimmer since muscle takes less volume than fat. And muscle burns more calories than fat even when you’re sleeping.

    8. You’ll need to track your calories pretty closely, at least till you get an idea of what your “allowed” calories look like. There are lots of apps that will help you with this that are easy and kinda fun.

    9. Good luck and check back if you need clarification.
