• Should I give a lump sum payment toward my student debt?

I will need a car and am worried that only having $2-3,000 will not be enough emergency money. With the extra money and following my financial plan I should be paid in full by February 2020. Is this a responsible choice?

I don't have a wife or kids to drain my paycheck every month, so I have been able to put chunks away to save. I have paid off all of my student loans because I'm not one of the millennial deadbeats waiting for the bailout (I'm an honorable man, won't screw over anyone that hasn't done the same to me), and the GI bill is paying my MBA tuition plus a 3800 housing stipend for New York. I'm currently stocking away 3K every month consistently now for the last year. Is this a good amount saved at 28, or should I have more by now?

*Please read all to avoid irrelevant answers* I'm curious as to if this is normal when asking to have a higher credit card limit. I simply said that I'd like to double it to around 8k-10k. They are having me fill out applications, getting all sorts of info, references asking for employer supervisors etc. But here is the thing, I have excellent credit (well over 700), I've taken out SEVERAL loans (all different types, personal, title, etc) paid them all off on time and some early. They even financed me for a 15k vehicle loan. All this on top of already having the credit card to begin with (and it's one of their top of the line cards, too). So, why is it necessary to go through all these hoops as if I have absolutely zero credit just to simply raise my card limit slightly? To be honest, I find it a bit insulting and a total waste of time. Isn't this initially what credit scores are for?

So my fiancee is requesting an huge expensive wedding and I am trying to find every way to accommodate to her. I calculated the total costs and it is going to cost me about $10,000 in total. I can't afford this with my own money as I work at mcdonalds. She picked the most expensive hotel in ho chi minh city to have the wedding reception in and the hotel honeymoon suites she picked for us is going to cost about $700 a night. Her wedding dress is $500 also too. I wished that she could pick an traditional ao dai dress as those only cost $200. I can't do that cause I want to make her happy. She is someone who my family setted me up with as I had a hard time finding someone here in the US. I bank with bank of america and I am wondering if it's possible that I can pull out a loan for all of this and how I can get the loan in cash for me to bring it with me. Is it possible for me to pull out a loan for this ?? Would they give it to me in cash if I requested them to ??

I make all payments, pay all maintenance, and all gas. The only thing he pays for is the insurance. If I wanted to insure the car only in my name and go refinance it, could I do that without his permission? My name is on the title alongside his. And on the registration, it says Chris or Nicol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My dad doesn't want me refinancing until after graduation of college, but they have been threatening to take the vehicle from me for not cleaning the house well enough even though I work 40 hours a week. I would like it to be only in my name so nothing is risked anymore or threatened. Any advice would be appreciated.

Best answer: Why would there be anything wrong with that? All those possessions aren't helping you to "get by" just sitting there. If you need to sell some of them then you should go right ahead and do that. Let's not forget that when life is coming to an end, you can't take any of it with you. People have to much of an attachment to their possessions in my opinion and if you can get some much needed cash from selling some of your stuff then do it! Right now is what matters and right now you need some extra money to get by, right? Sell some of your stuff and don't think twice about it. If you are doing better financially at some point in the future and you want to replace some of the items you sold then you can do that but right now is what matters. And like I said, right now you need some extra money. Do what you need to do and don't feel any guilt.

  • Am I weird for doing this?

Best answer: You can get water and still hangout. As long as everyone in the group is not.

That is a trick I learned when I was young. I wanted to go out with my friends for fast food occasionally but I just always got water which helped me save.
