  • What is someones "net worth" comprised of?

Best answer: To put it simply, net worth is what you own minus what you owe. So, yes, cash and non-cash assets are included in the "own" side of the equation.

So you own GE and the price keeps going down, how much would your stock have to be worth in order for you to maintain ownership? So if you had 10 shares of GE and today they're $19 p/s (I haven't checked but let's use $19) and next year they're down to $5 p/s and then later down to $1 p/s (so now your holding is worth $10) will it only be if the stock goes to $0 p/s that you relinquish any ownership of GE? And then what happens with the certificate the broker is holding for you in its name is that torn up? And then if GE started making a recovery after shares had already been at 0 would you have to buy new ones in order to have any stake? Thanks
