I'm a 17 year old junior in highschool. When I was 16 my mom said I needed to get a job and since I'm not allowed to do sports I had no problem with it, plus I can make some spending money. The thing is my mom won't let me get my drivers licence and I need a parents signature to get one and my dad isn't in the picture so my mom needs to drive me.This is technically my 3rd job because the first place was a fastfood chain and at the end of the interview the manager said I was hired but when I told my mom about it she refused to let me work there because "it's embarrassing" to work fast food. My second job I ended up getting fired due to always going in late because of my mom. On top of that she told the rest of the family that I was fired for sleeping on the job which is a complete lie. My new job I already have 2 write ups for being late. The thing is it's my moms fault an when I try to explain it to her I get scolded and she turns it around on me. I get home from school around 3:15 and I need to work at 4:00. I can make it in time If I walk straight from school because it's about a 45 min walk but my mom makes me come straight home plus the area my job is located is a sketchy area and it's common for muggings to happen around there. i would take an uber but my mom forbids and its a bit risky if there is none in the area and I'll end up being late anyway. What happens is I will be ready and my mom will wait until the last minute to take me. I swear she does it on purpose

A company offered an interview and I declined. I declined through a recruiter who passed them my CV and the recruiter said it wasn't a problem, that he'll let the company know and will keep looking for opportunities for me. I'm also still waiting to hear back from 1 other company the recruiter sent my CV to. I'm extremely worried I made a mistake. The reasons I declined to interview was: 1. The pay is very bad. 2. The journey is more than inconvenient (not the length of journey, which is fine at 1 hour, but the mode of journey). 3. I have another interview coming up which I'm much more keen on (will look amazing on my CV if I got it), offers much better pay, better journey, overall better job description But that being said, it's only an interview. I may have made a mistake. There's no guarantee I'll get the job after the other interview. I may have backed myself into a corner.. How much of an idiot am I?

Hi yahoo. About to hopefully start a new job however my references are messing up my start date (references sent 8 weeks ago). One was from my university personal tutor that has not completed a reference and when emailed today they said that because I left the university early they do not want to send one (8 weeks too late). Another is from a previous employer who I had bad relations with, but has ignored my follow up email asking again for a reference. This could damage my application as the company is asking for 3 full years of references. Are they allowed to keep me in the dark like this as I should have started last month (and so I am a month behind on pay for example) Sorry it got long winded, cheers for any help

If I leave I will never get the job back but if I go I will be dropping in wages away from home and my family often for days at a time. The job is all I have ever wanted to do and have battled to get it. I always thought I would never make it so it wouldn’t be an issue. I am torn between loosing my present job being away from my family but the job would be the opportunity of a live time. Any advice !!!

  • What jobs are in an office and I can wear a suit?

I work at a gas station and it’s not fulfilling, what job can I wear a suit to and be on an office? I’m looking for the minimum and least expensive job option, preferably not to go to college because I can’t afford that, I just want to work at a job that’s in an office and I wear a suit.

I definitely understand the pros and cons, especially for a student. I’m just sick of asking my mom for money, I want to stop sitting around and make my own. I have my permit and ID ready. But who knows.. Maybe I don’t know anything at all yet. Am I too young to work?

He give me a crap story about not being staffed enough so he cant schedule me. WTF does that even mean? Another GM that I know that works at a different place says that my GM is being shady. He obviously wants me to quit. My source also told me that by law you have to schedule a new employee to work right after hiring them. I was also told that the restaurant also gets a fine for not scheduling an employee to work a minimum of 2hrs a week.
