I was walking to my car on campus and hear what sounded like an argument between a guy and girl. The girl is like "what do you mean you can't? Just change the tire." He responds "how? I don't know how to change a tire!" she then goes "just jack it up and unscrew the bolts." Then he cringely responds "what's a jack?" So as the good samaratan I am, I stepped in and asked if they needed help changed the tire for them. But when I asked where his tire iron and Jack was in his car, he didn't know where or what I was talking about. So I had to rummage through the back and remove. The girl was harsh though, she kept saying how little of a man he was for not knowing how to change a tire and that he should be like me. She even gave me a kiss on the cheek when I refused to take any money. Now, what I'm concerned about is not him changing a tire, but what are they teaching my peers? I'm no saint, but I feel I could do well on my own. I mean, if you can't change a tire, how are you going to maintain a car, which leads to greater thing? And I don't think he's the only 20- something who can't change a tire, it's my whole generation of millenials. PS, it made it funnier that he was wearing a frat shirt that said "Proud Beta"

I got a car from Carmax last year in May. It is a Hyundai Accent 2014 model. Recently, my car battery was acting up. Someone I know told me it could be due to putting the radio on when the car is off or keeping the air switch on when the car is off. I never leave the air on. I do sometimes listen to the radio. When I started my car one day, I noticed a slight hesitancy and I thought it was not going to start but eventually it did. It ended up running well. Yesterday though, my car battery completely died. I was upset about it because I just got the car last year. I have given it oil changes and whenever the check light for the tires comes on, I get them filled with air. I've been diligent with keeping up with the car. I cannot afford to get a new battery just yet and have to wait until I get paid. Do batteries die that fast? What causes a car battery to die?

My mom keeps telling to stop, but I want to keep this truck in good condition. I was just wondering if it's bad. I always use mobil 1 5w-30 high mileage oil and a mobil 1 filter. Am I over maintaining? Part of it is wanting to keep the truck alive. The other is I just like working on my car and find changing the oil fun and manly. This truck is my baby. It's almost as old as I am. I'm 22 and the truck is 15 almost 16.

Every year I'm having to replace mine because they don't make OEM ones for my car anymore. Basically every winter the boots get hard and break open, then get washed out with mud and snow and then fail. I've tried replacing just the boots by checking them weekly or even daily during the winter and taking the CV joints apart, cleaning and regreasing them and replacing the boots immediately after they break but they seem to just go and burst open again. But we do get temperatures as low as -40F though. But in my 5 year old Nissan the OEM boots and CV joints look great.

Best answer: It`s hard to compete with automatic car washes. Rather, specialize by focusing on the things automatic car washes don`t do well. Wheels, interiors, and anything you can think of. For wheels you`ll need special cleaners for removing the dust from brake pads. For interiors, you`ll need to be able to shampoo fabric upholstery, carpeting and maybe cloth head liners (interior roof). Other cleaners for all the vinyl & leather. Maybe stuff for scotch guarding. A vacuum cleaner like a shop vac, etc. I`d suggest using Sparkle brand glass cleaner. Not Windex. Windex streaks. Using a chamois for drying glass instead of paper towels can save you some money. If you go from job to job, you`ll need to find a portable wringer to help you dry off towels or chamois, etc. To start with, come up with some advertising leaflets, and put them in your neighborhood mail boxes, within walking distance of your home. Let them know you`re a neighbor. You`ll first have to practice first in order to figure out how much you`ll need to charge, based on your expenses and how much time it takes to complete a job. There`s lots of other stuff too, but you`ll figure it out. In the 50`s my dad owned a service station and his sons washed cars for him every Saturday from 7 a.m to 6 p.m. This is something you honestly can figure out, and could grow into a steady job for you from H.S. through College. If hand car washes could work there too, why not. The wringer will be even more important then. It`s a very doable idea. There`s so much more I could tell you, but this will have to do. Work hard and I won`t need to wish you Good Luck. p.s. In America we call this kind of thing "Detailing".

When I accelerate hard from stopped at an angle, like if I'm pulling out of a driveway or merging into traffic while turning, the front wheels spin and the traction control light blinks. Is this a function of FWD? Do AWD cars have this problem too?

I recently cleaned/replaced brakes and rotors. This started happening about a month ago and I can only suspect it be the bearings (although the shakes happen terribly when I brake). Also this doesn t happen on the first drive (to work) it doesn t shake. On the way back though it forces me to brake extremely far (it feels like a rim is gonna go flying off). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I m assuming I need to replace the four bearings, or it may be some other problem in not aware of ? Thanks in advanced.

My vehicle stalls after letting it idle for a while. Whenever it stalls it wouldnt get it started agan, then when I check for spark by inserting a screw driver in one of the spark plug wires and touching it to the frame of the engine, i get no spark, but if i hold it against the frame of the engine for a while, the vehicle starts and runs fine until I leave it idling for a while again. I have an after market distributor. I changed the ignition coil in it recently after I couldnt get it started. As soon as I changed the coil, the car started and worked fine for a while till it gave me the same problem. Its now parked at home and I am saving to buy a genuine distributor, hoping this solves the problem. I would test it again and hopefully it solves the problem. I have lost an engine before, but it was losin power before it eventually knocked. When I cranked to start it, it would turn only once or twice, unlike this time the starting motor turns constantly but no spark. When it eventually sparks the engine actually starts. I just wanna make sure that my engine is fine. Thanks.
