If something were to happen wouldn't it be my license that was taken? Since I would be the driver when it happened? Or is she just saying this because she's a nervous person?

The quote that the mechanic gave us was $900. Last week he finally took it in to get fixed and after they started the said they found 10,000 of damage after taking the bumper off. I find this hard to believe as we were not going that fast. He is now requesting my insurance info and I’m just wondering if I am truly required to do so i this happened so long ago and a police report was never filed

  • What happens if you get into an accident that was your fault before you get insurance on it (since you have 30 days to do so)?

Best answer: You do not have 30 days to get insurance. ALL LAWS say you have to have insurance BEFORE you operate on PUBLIC streets, roads, and highways....

So a HGV (heavy goods vehicle) hit my car a while back (10 months ago) and for ages the drivers insurance was ignoring our claim. Because of this my insurance got solicitors and started legal proceedings against them. Court papers were filed against the driver and his insurance got solicitors and now they are disputing the claim and have filed a defence. We will be going to court at some point in the future. The reason I ask about a dash cam is because I know that a lot of HGV's have dash cams now a days for insurance purposes yet there has been no mention of one yet? Wouldn't the driver or insurance had to have told my insurance or solicitors whether he had a dash cam of the incident? Does the fact that all of this has happened and no dash cam has ever been mentioned imply that he didn't have one? I think our insurance companies did have a brief discussion about the claim and obviously we have seen the official defence the drivers insurance have served and there was no mention of a cam. Even if he had one it wouldn't do anything for his case but I'm just preparing for any curve balls thrown in court.

I have not taken driver's ed and I have my appointment today. I don't //technically// turn 17 1/2 until Saturday given that my birthday is on May 25. This seems stupid but would a 3 day difference be important. Will they turn me away? I don't want to wait the long lines just to be disappointed.

If it was perfect, then usually you don't sell it. You are not obligated to tell him anything...just that you don't want the car no more. He "feels it out and gets a mechanic for a preinspection and he knows what he is buying.
. When you sell AS IS it basically states YOU guarantee nothing. What they see is what they are buying. Used car lots offer the same deal.
. You need the registration papers in your name, proving you own the car. Then the guy in Indiana buys the car and gets those registration papers from you. You also fill out TRANSFER PAPERS which is transferring the ownership of the car from you to him. And you make out a receipt on a scrap of paper saying you California Joe has received full payment for1999 Camaro from Indiana Jones. Paid in full. And he pays you all cash, no payment plans. If he wants to do a payment plan let him visit a bank...as that is what they specialize in.(borrowing out money). You both sign. He gets the top copy and you get the carbon copy.(or just make 2 identical receipts and sign both of them and he signs both of them AFTER HE HANDS YOU ALL THE CASH. He gets your registration because the government(DMV) in Indiana makes one for him for Indiana. Hand him the car keys and say "Toodles", Everything is legal and above board. He is gambling he can fix all the problems himself cheaply and it is legal in Indiana.
Note: just because it does not pass the emission test station in California, applies only to California. Not a junk car anywhere else.
California has tough emission standards so many cars fail in that state. Even new off the assembly line. Not so harsh in the rest of the country.
