I am a bookkeeper. My company does have an accountant but he only does the taxes at years end. Sometimes I wish I had someone who I could ask an accounting question. QuickBooks used to have a network of local experts that you could ask for help for what seemed like a reasonable amount of money (I'm not talking about tech support) But that seems to be no more. I would like to have a relationship with a smart talented patient accountant who is skilled in QuickBooks that I could pay on a subscription basis to ask an occasional question. What do you think my best options are? Thanks

I am 27yo and work as a Research Executive in this big restaurant chain in our country. Recently the CEO's son who is a Vice President who does no work every day but listen to music, eat lunch with the office ladies and watch youtube videos in his corner Office, told me he likes the title of Chief Research Officer and then asked his dad to promote him, his dad agreed without hesitation and made him the Chief Research Officer. The most absurd thing is that my boss' son was only a General manager 2 years ago, and became Director, then VP, then Chief Research Officer, in just 2 years?! Now I know this company belongs to his family and he can play as much as he wants. But I find this unethical, unprofessional, and downright unfair. This is a public company, and there are many shareholders beside his father, (though his family controls more than 60 percent), can't anyone do something about this? I hate him so much, that loser is in the corner office doing nothing while I'm still stuck in my cubicle?! What should i do?

Hello, guys. I am a freelancer, yet it seems soon I'll get a tricky job. I will be a consulant-translator-outsource manager for one company, job duties are internet researches, translations, looking for people and outsourcing work, quality control, different consultations(time, volume and such are also vague) and etc. Plus some additional work to come. Okay, translation is easy, but researches, outsourcing, consultations? No idea how long it will take for me to finish each task like that and how much I should demand for it. If anyone has ideas how to structure all of it and proceed with payment, I'll be immeasurably grateful

How do you record business expenses for taxes and how do you know what to leave off? Last year I set up my DJ equipment a couple times for practice and one time I set up for a free birthday party. I think most of the equipment was purchased last year but I wasn't allowed any deductions on my 2016 taxes because I didn't make any money other than my W2 from my full time job in that year. 2017 was the same except I did one show that I didn't get paid for. Starting this year, I was asked to run Karaoke one night a week. It won't pay much, I was offered $50 per night but I'm going to ask for $100 because I have expenses I have to cover. The most confusing expense is a cell phone because I want a separate number that I give out at events, I can take it with me when I'm out and I can shut it off when I don't want to be bothered. I have a phone that I use for personal calls. First there's the purchase price of the phone then there's the monthly bill. They have different plans, one you pay $80 upfront for the phone and $40 per month. You can also get a free phone and pay $50 per month for a year or two years depending on the cost of the phone. Then there's $400 phones vs. $80 phones. I could buy a Staighttalk prepaid phone for $15 and $25/Mo. which might be all I need. How would I then prove the phone was only used for business? If all I get is this one gig at $50/night I would be project to make around $2,000 to $2,600 for the year and $3,000 in expenses.
