• Am I allowed to ask an employer if they will pay me for transportation?

There is a new Costco that opened up and they are hiring. It costs me $4 to get there by bus and $4 back. My city doesn't have many stores that are hiring, most tourist stores and they only hire people who they know. Can I call a store up and ask them if they will pay,

  • Does my landlord need to buy me a new air conditioner?

I've asked the landlord about doing something about it several times, and so far I've been ignored. I rent month to month, and it was advertised for the house I'm renting. What can I do? I asked the landlord today if he's going to do something & he said no. His reason is because he claims I've made several small alterations inside the house without asking him first, so he doesn't feel like doing anything extra for me. How is this doing anything extra? Can he do this to me in retaliation? I live in San Pedro, CA, and he claims it doesn't get that hot here anyway. Yes it does some days & I live close to the ocean.

My lease was up on Dec 17th. The lease states to give 60 day notice of move out. I gave a 30 day notice because I was still searching for a decent new place and wasn t sure if I wanted to move. (no excuse). After I gave my notice I talked to the leasing on the phone who told me I would have to pay the whole month of December and half of January (around $2000 total) for only giving 30 days notice and they put my apartment unit on their website as available to rent for a week after I move out Dec 24th. This is where it gets good. They sent me a letter stating my move out charges. They had the month of November and December. December was PRORATED for only the 1st to the 17th. Cool I figured they rented the apartment to someone already as the unit was no longer available on the website as well. hmmmm. Fast forward to today Jan 16th, they send me an email with a bunch of new charges. $600 for Dec 18th to 31st. $740 for Jan 1st to 17th. on top of $600 for cleaning, all dated for todays date. I understand the cleaning fee, which should have been took out of my deposit anyway, but why am I still paying for the other half of Dec and January when they have a new tenant that moved in on Dec 24th? Isn t that considered double rent? Especially after they prorated my December rent. I m just trying to figure out if I should take this to court.

Basically long story short the loan was placed at a "dealership" in Nebraska where you put a certain amount down and then pay per month. It was never financed through a bank; anyway I had to go to Florida with the Americorps National Community Service Program for one year and I voluntarily released the car back to the original creditors. I get done with my service contract and I went home to Nebraska then I ask if I can get my car back then while on the phone to the creditors they said that since I left the state I broke the contract and I'm not eligible to get the car back and I saw that they have the car for sale back on their sales lot. I checked my credit report and they are still showing it as an active account and it was updated January 12th, 2017 that I'm late on payments and am active account. What's the next step do you think?

By the way, the retailers don't "like" to do anything but make money selling products. Also remember that "Human Resources" is there to protect the company, not the employees. In both cases, this is not "good" or "bad", it just *is* and helps define capitalism.

My landlords have personal problems with me because I am not christian and refuse to go to church with them or kiss up to them like they expect people to. My job here is to follow the rules of my contract and pay the rent on time. I don't owe these people a dollar of rent money and I give them the rent the first of every month sometimes a few days earlier. They gave me a 30 day eviction notice (not a certified document just a paper their son typed up). I know the reason they want me out is personal but is giving the room to a family member a legit reason for an eviction? I have never paid rent late or breached my contract and I have proof of all my rent payments. What should I do? Should I talk to a lawyer? ps i live in New Jersey
