i’ve had this problem for a while but it would fix itself, but now when i plug in my epiphone les paul special ii into my amp i get no sound. I checked all the basics and yes the amp is plugged in and on, the guitar volume is up, and the cable works with my acoustic-electric. I’m not an expert with guitars so i don’t know what i need to look for so i will include a picture. I also unscrewed the input jack and the wire seemed to be attached. This is an inexpensive guitar so I don’t really want to pay to have it fixed. Any help is appreciated!

  • Can an unsigned band sell cd’s of their original material without a label?

My band will be recording our debut ep soon and plan on releasing it independently however I’m struggling to find much help on the process. I’m aware we can get it online (Spotify/iTunes) without having a record label however we also want to sell cds, can we just print them off and sell them or is it not as simple?... show more

Best answer: Play with others, and learn whole tunes, ones that have easy and relatively few chords.  It's fun to play with fellow guitarists and other musicians, and that's a great motivator.  If you can sing, learn some songs with chords you can manage.

Facility with chord changes comes with repetition.  Some transitions are easier with alternate fingerings.  For example, a common pair is G to C, typically learned as
    e 3(3) -- o
    B o    -- 1(1)
    G o    -- o
    D o     -- 2(2)
    A 2(1) -- 3(3)
    E 3(2) -- x
But experienced guitarists more often play the G as
    e 3(4)
    B o
    G o
    D o
    A 2(2)
    E 3(3)
[Note:  The number in parentheses indicates the finger to use.]

I've always been curious about how bands and singers make sure other bands and singers don't accidentally take their gear. I know that drums usually have a special drum head for a specific band or singer and guitars can sometimes have special stickers or specific dents or other special identifying features. I also know that some bands or singers may have microphones that are a specific color or are blinged out. I am, however, wondering about things that don't have stickers, dents, are blinged out or anything else like that. Do you put a specific color of tape on your gear or something like that?

Ive been looking for some really dark, sort of deep music that could be used in like, a fight scene or chase scenario. I haven't found really anything that matches what I'm looking for, but I hope if you have any suggestions they may fit. If theres any more specific details needed, I'll include them.

  • Do Some Guitars Not Fit With Some Amps?

Otherwise, any electric guitar will connect to and work okay with any amp.

Guitars and amps aren't for any particular "genre" - any kind of music can be played on any kind of guitar and or amp. Obviously some models of guitar are associated with a particular type of music, like a Tele is associated with cou try music, but can be used for anything. Teles have been used for punk, rock, jazz, blues electrc folk, reggae etc.

Of course, a particular player seeking a very specific sound might not like a particular guitar with a particular amp but someone else might love the sound.
