I'm about to leave for college across the country. However, I'm a bit worried about my parents. They currently have no real friends that they can spend time with, and they only keep in loose contact with relatives. I am an only child, so after I leave they'll be left with an empty nest. Is there any advice, apps, methods, etc I can provide them with so they can connect with more people? They are rather "off-the-grid" currently, but I bet I could convince them to use more tech if it was beneficial! I feel like they'd never actively seek out friends on their own unless they were provided with means to do so. Any advice?

  • In Henderson, NV (western side) what options are their for seniors that don't drive?

My mom will be living with me and I don't want her stuck at home all day. Are there any places that have senior activities or organized trips to the casinos, etc? Also any tips on senior transportation would be helpful, although Uber is always an option, she uses a rolling walker. Thanks!

  • Seniors. Do you live in Senior Housing and find the residents mostly dull and uninteresting?

Due to prescribed meds being toxic I fell ill and neighbors here fell into saying I had a nervous breakdown and gossip about me. I was friendly and outgoing when I moved here.

  • Seniors, did you have a gas yardlight in the past?

Best answer: Never had one myself, but there is a town here in East Texas 'Jefferson' that still has gas lights along it's sidewalks down town. The aren't in use anymore, but they set on top of the city sewer lines and burned the methane gas off sewage when they were in use.

  • Senior citizens, have you filed for Grandparent's rights? If so, what was the outcome?

Best answer: These rights come into play in a divorce usually, in Family Law court. The grandparents shouldn't be excluded from visitation with the child just because their son wasn't a good father, or vice versa for maybe the mother.

  • Would you consider this a compliment, insult or maybe both regarding aging?

Best answer: a compliment if you really care that much about looking young for your age and a sad reflection on society that deems old age as an impending disaster/tragedy - a place we don't want to be.
