I cannot get him out of the cage, I only stroked him a tiny bit before. I’m really frustrated I just want my hamster to love me. Any tips?

So Ive had my hamster for about two months now. Im getting ready to start hand taming her once im done with college this quarter. She has never bitten me before shes actually a pretty sweet hamster she lets me touch her on the back wvery so often. Well shes hissed before when we first got her but its not really happened since then.Until today Ill admit her cage is a bit small (a problem thats going to be fixed very soon) and shes still a bit skittish around us but thats to be expected since i havent really hand trained her much. But today i was cleaning my room (where she is housed) and talking to a friend on the phone. Now everytime she hears my voice she runs over towards where im at wanting treats. I gave her some toilet paper and was going to give her a apple treat. But instead as soon as she got the toilet paper. She ran in her nesting spot and began to scream at me. I didnt know what to think i hung up with my friend and checked on her and she screamed at me again. Ive left her alone since then. I try not to put her under stress . The small cage problem is going to be fixed this week and i dont really bother her that much just to give her treats, food, and ball time(i have dogs so i have to keep her in one). The only time i think i may have made her stressed is when i let her out of the cage for a bit she jumped out onto my bed and i tried to catch her from hurting herself on the metal parts of the bed. But that was a month ago and she seemed fine???

I would thingk24 hours of destress time it would come around. Problem still remains, if a cat gets hold of a mouse, it may not cause any superficial injuries but can easily cause internal injuries. Breathing is alive though in any event, you might give it another 12 hours, and see if there is any improvement or simply goes over the rainbow bridge.
If it does respond,it will likely be dehydrated and could use an electrolyte like pedialyte. Clean bottled water can substitute.
No foods to this point, dealing with shock and dehydration are first steps, then you might see if it will eat something like a piece of cucumber, watermelon, or baby foods.Jar lids make good food and water bowls.
Like you, I wouldn't get hops up, most of these cases end in fatality. If it should recover and regain strength, I do suggest releasing your little friend in some protected place well away from the house. Survival rate trying to keep them captive is about two weeks.

  • Why did my hamster die?

Best answer: You did all you could. She probably did have a digestive issue or wet tail, and the medicine didn't act fast enough. This isn't something that you could have changed, you did all you could. Most people wouldn't have even taken a hamster to the vet, so you did much more than the typical owner would. show more

Hi. Two of my hamsters have always stayed together and they’ve had babies a lot of times and now only one set has survived, there are 3 babies who are 25 days old. My hamster has given birth yet again as soon as the elder lot became independent. After this I got a new cage and transferred the male and the babies into the new cage and the old one now houses the mother and the new borns so that there are no more babies that the mom has to look after. Somehow I feel she is feeling lonely and is not her usual chirpy self and I’m getting extremely disheartened. Should I just put them all back together like they used to be before this?

My cat brought a dead rat in this morning and my cats definitely don't have fleas but I have a flea bite so I think it might be from the rat. Is there anything I can get from this?

  • Can I transfer the hamster litter to a new place?

I was happily surprised to find out my hammy giving birth to 6 newborn babies. However she gave birth outside her house in an open area covered with wood shavings and cotten. Should I move the babies to the house since it's probably warmer and more comfortable?

Leg bands were once used until it was found they can chew them off. Only thing successful is microchip, and not practical.
Best thing is possible is releasing a good 1/2mile away into some other protected place.
I had an abandoned condemned home down the road I would release rodents, never recognized new kids on the block.
I invested in some of those electronic rodent repellers, plugged them in, and no more rodents, can't beat that, they never come in, in the first place. The trap is stuck away in the garage somewhere.
I worked with bats and banded the wings, that is obsolete now for the equivalent of fingerprints in their wing membranes.
    95% accurate.

I know I was just devastated when my mouse I had a very strong bond with died quietly in his sleep, just seemed so sudden in spite of living very long for a mouse, I never considered that. I have had numerous small pets since, all come and gone and I still remember my Yogi like yesterday. Yogi died in 1963 if that says anything.
All I can say is so sorry for your loss. Time will heal the hurt.
