  • Christians of Y!A: would you be okay with it if an atheist baker refused to custom make a pro-Christian cake for you?

Just to make sure that you're not being hypocritical about this... My own personal take on it is: when a cake already exists, it should NOT be legal to refuse to sell it to people, just because they belong to some demographic that you don't like! Just to make sure that you're not being hypocritical about this... My own personal take on it is: when a cake already exists, it should NOT be legal to refuse to sell it to people, just because they belong to some demographic that you don't like! But: any baker should still have the right to refuse to specifically CREATE a new cake, by custom order, that features some kind of message they don't agree with, and cannot stand for. And that goes for EVERYONE, regardless of their religion and/or political persuasions. ..Does anyone else think I'm on to something?

... he missed the whole weekend then? Wouldn't it have been better to die on a Tuesday and come back on a Friday?

Best answer: That depends on two things
A - the person you ask
B - the particular Bible you are asking about

    FOR EXAMPLE:
The typical English Protestant Bible has 66 books.
The Catholic Bible (officially) has 73 books, plus some chapters in Esther and Daniel that you will not find in a 66-book Bible.

Ask a 66-book Bible Protestant if every book in the Catholic Bible is inspired by God and they will answer: "No".
Ask a 66-book Bible Protestant if every book in the 66-book Bible is inspired by God and they will answer: "Yes".
Ask an Eastern Orthodox if every book in the Catholic Bible is inspired by God and they will answer: "Yes".
    - (Eastern Orthodox Bibles include all of the Catholic Bible contents plus others)
    etc.

As if that disagreement were not bad enough
you have very (VERY) different ideas regarding the meaning of the word "inspired".

At one extreme: "inspired by God" means
-- God motivated the author to write that document but apart from the words God himself spoke to the author - i.e. the words that the author plainly teaches were spoken by God himself - the information in that book comes from the author and not from God and is therefore liable to typical human error.

At the other extreme: "inspired by God" means
-- God dictated and the Biblical authors merely wrote down what God told them to write down, each word written exactly as God intended, supernaturally written without any error. Because of this the Bible (at least the autographs) were completely without error or contradiction.

Some go so far as to say that certain translations are also inspired by God and completely without error. (Typically among English-speakers this is taught only concerning the KJV, and taught only by KJV-onlyists).

Lately I've been wandering on the internet reading, understanding more on psychology, society, and how the world works. I can't help but continuously think about what the real truth of the world is. I am a Christian and I believe in God, and I'm true to that, but I also see so many other theories and explanations of how the world is. Is it religion, scientific research, extra terrestrial happenings? I also feel like we are being tested and to see how well we do currently on whether or not we deserve to exist now or in the afterlife. How does anyone else feel about this?
