  • Work Stress!?

I have been working at my company for almost 3 years, in the beginning, it was tough as I had 2 people who wanted me fired, still to this day I am not entirely sure why? I was very lucky to have a manager and co-worker who saw what was happening and defended me against them at the time. When that was over, it was about a year after that, when a new co-worker started and that person wanted me fired as well, which resulted in my manager informing me about this and my manager said she felt sorry for me as I did not deserve it.

Still to this day, I am confused by this, as I got an award after my first year for being the Most Valuable Player while working in my old department, I will admit these events has affected me in a way, where I have anxiety and I am not sure if the next person is going to want me gone. From what I have noticed most people in the office enjoy working with me and do notice that I am a hard worker, it was just a really small amount that wanted me gone and I have done nothing wrong.

Anyone else experienced this and know why some people do this to their co-workers?

  • Did job interview go well?

The creative director started off the interview explaining the HR stuff, such as how many leave days the company gives, The flexible working times, how many hours a week one should work.

They started talking about the company culture and how everyone is friendly and they have an open-door policy. They also went on about the position itself and what it would entail and the types of departments I would be working with.

Then they moved onto the technical questions about the assessment I did and what my process was when I did it, I gave detailed answers on my process and I mentioned that I did a bit of javascript in adobe after effects to get the animation I wanted. The interviewer asked if I know how to code, I mentioned to him that I dappled in a couple of languages and we spent a few moments talking about coding. He noticed that for one of my freelance jobs that I did 3D modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering and he said you know you are a generalist right, which is a good thing because it will allow you to assist with the other departments if needed and learn.

At the end of the interview, He asked if I had any questions, I asked a couple, I asked them is if there is any concerns that they have. The creative director said he will be honest with me, he needs to see if there are concerns that anyone else has, but personally he has no concerns, they also asked about my notice period.

Did the interview go well? Would like some perspective.

  • Why a Manager has a soft spot for a co- worker?

Just curious, I over heard one of the managers speaking to a couple of my co workers. she said she has a soft spot for one of my co- workers in her heart.

I am not entirely sure what she means by that. He use to work in our department but then moved to another one.

My question is what does that mean and why would a manager have a soft spot for an employee?

  • Is my work ethic enough?

A few months ago my manager told me that they introducing 3D for the company and that I am going to flourish at the company. We have been discussing this for a few months now.

They even went so far as to discuss with the Drafting Manager about me going from my current position to working there. Just to give you some insight as to all the actions I have taken. I was not that at my position when I first started to be honest,I have improved a great deal that i got an MVP award from my manager, not only that I went out of my way to learn the software the CAFM department uses during my lunch times, after I was comfortable with the program, i did the CAFM test that people do who come in for an interview, which I passed I also went so far as to do a Java programming course to not only up skill myself but to also add more value to the company.

My question is. was all this effort good enough? My manager did send my accomplishments and experience to her boss, they wanted my C.V and my manager said they will always have my back, she said she would like to meet me to catch up which was 2 weeks ago, I followed up last week to ask if we still going to meet she said next week as they were pretty busy, which is understandable. I am concerned that all the effort, energy and time I put in to do all this is not going to be enough.

  • Am I a bad person for walking away from a 19 year friendship?

When both of them got girlfriends, I became the one initiating plans to hang out,go on double dates and always visiting them, the only time one of them visited me was because his wife suggested it and the other because his girlfriend was busy. When ever I went to them even though they both have cars it was always my car that was used and when I asked why we cant use theirs there was always some reason why they cant use theirs.

I did confront the one friend about it and he admit that he expected me to do everything in the friendship

I went to visit one of them who is currently still staying with his dad and his girlfriend is staying with him. This time we took his car to go shopping for groceries which I tagged along, I could see they were struggling that month,so I decided to help out and buy some groceries for them. When we got back to his place he said out of the blue if we were in a fight he would win. I still do not understand why he said that.

These guys were there for me when I went through some pretty rough patches in my life, feeling insecure about myself or my situation.

After he saw my message he sent an angry voice note saying that I have been emotionally needy for the past 6 years and i was at his brothers wedding as a best man and how dare I. He stated that I am selfish narcissistic and a piece of crap.

    I admit it still hurts.

Does this make me a bad person?

  • Why my manager ask how long i spend on my tasks?

I am leaving the company i work for.I have another job where i can actually grow.

while i have been working here my manger has asked me quite a few times how long it takes me to do each task,as i cant give her an estimate because it changes every time. Now that I am leaving I am typing out a job description for her so she can post it online. She asks me again how long it takes me to do them and if there were days that i had nothing to do.(which there was) but i was busy mostly.

I do not understand why she want to know how long it takes me to do each task.

  • Is this a bad thing?

there are two co workers i work with and they are friends. Co worker A mentioned to me that when she went out with her friend co worker B,my name came up in conversation.she did say what it was about. Co worker A said to co worker B that by mentioning my name it reminded her to message me about something i was helping her with. So co worker B said to her,"you have hi number" seemed surprised by it.

Is it a bad thing if your name come up in conversation. i do not think i made a bad impression with co worker A.

  • No idea if the interviewer was impressed or really disappointed?

I had a phone test interview yesturday where i was given a script and had to basically re hearse the script to the sales director.

At the end of the phone call after i did my sales pitch to him. he said that it was interesting and very different because he had been doing this all morning and just heard the same thing, until my call,he also said that i did not go according to the script he gave instead i did a spin off and made it my own. he let me know that there is only one more spot available for the position,he said he will let me know with in 24 to 48 hours. But i am not use if i messed up big time because i made the script my own to sell the pitch to him.

    What do you guys think?

  • did the interview go well?

I went for an interview yesterday at a designing company for a 3D position. they were quite friendly.

The interview was more of a casual conversation with questions thrown here and there. the main question i got was "so tell me about your journey from where you studied to your current job." so i told them about my studies and my job experiences and how versatile I was in my current position, they seemed pretty impressed by all the diversity of responsibilities I had. I mentioned i did a freelance furniture design job for a client that is apparently well known, that the boss was impressed by it and wanted to know more what the process was like working with my client at the time. they did not seem to believe me when i told them i randomly emailed my client on a whim. I said to them if you do not believe me you quite welcome to phone her and ask her your self. They also asked me if i would be okay working with just females, I said I had no problem with it, they also asked me if working for them would be okay with me as in my current position i am always meeting new people, I asked it would be fine. I also mentioned to them how my current company has helped me developed into the person i am today. They also asked me about my hobbies and what i do in my spare time. So i told them. They also asked what my notice period is. The boss did say that there is 2 other interviews they are doing and she will contact me next week to let me know the outcome.

  • Why a woman would tell me it feels like she has known me for a long time?

I met this one young woman at a friends get together, she was friendly with everyone. it was my first time meeting her.

at the end of the night she was hugging everyone, i did say goodbye to her but did not get up. she said to me why i am not getting up for her because it feels like she has known me for a long time.

I jokingly said well if we known each other that long i do not need to get up. i ended up hugging her goodbye.

I am very curious because i doubt i make people feel that comfortable on the first day

  • I think it is time for me to move on?

My use to be best friends got girlfriends and now i think it is time for me to move on.

Their girlfriends are not bad people but in all honestly eventually i will be seen as in the way of their relationship.Even though we had been best friends for 16 years eventually i will just be left behind while they move on with their lives with their girlfriends.

At the same time i wounder if i am making the right decision, because they will be miles a head of me in life. all i am i just the single friend who is holding on to something that is not there anymore

it seems once your friends get girlfriends, the friendship is pretty much on the back burner, i can understand for the first 6 months or so....anyway i am still deciding if the friendship is even worth it anymore.

any of you experience the same thing?

  • Does getting into a relationship always come at a price?

Two of my best friends have gotten into a relationship, which is great for them, however it has been a year for the one,and 2 for the other. during thir relationship I have always put in the efoort to go and see them and not once since they got into relationship take the time to make plans with me.

I have gotten to the point where leaving the friendship is a better option because it has become one sided and i am sick of running after them all the time and them just expecting that i will always be there

I had a girlfriend at one point who got very upset with me because i would visit my friends once i spent the day with her, to the point she basically tried to guilt me for spending time with my friends.

it has also made me wounder if relationships come at such a price. I get that your partner should take priority, but should never become your entire life?

I am just considering leaving that friendship, since its come to this?

  • should i give up my 16 year friendship?

My 2 best friends are brothers, and the one is engaged and the other just got into his first relationship.

I know how this is gana end at the end of the day I will fade into the background and eventually left behind as they move on with their girlfriends and i do not have a girlfriend. I personally think i should back off from their lives and move on with mine.

I am happy for them that they found someone. but now that they have someone it kinda feels like i do not exist anymore and that i am always putting effort in. Honestly i am tired of it.

They have been there to me and i them. something just tells me to move on.
