  • Can anyone tell me if the media around Covid-19 feels the same as when news about HIV was starting to spread into the mainstream?

It sounds similar to me: “Don’t get to close to anyone. If you do, wear a protective covering or you might die from a highly infectious disease. A specific demographic of people are more susceptible to contracting the virus. There is no cure, but you must get tested so that you don’t unknowingly pass on the virus.”

I’m hoping to hear from anyone who is old enough to remember those early days of HIV media campaigns for comparison.

  • Are there facts about creation that were not recorded in the Bible?

This question is not for people who do not believe in the Bible as an authoritative document. I simply want to know what people who already believe in the Bible think might have been excluded and why. For example, I think that the explanation of how long a “day” is for God is omitted because we can’t comprehend time that way. I also think that the Bible leaves out when God created other people besides Adam and Eve, like the partners created for Cain, Abel, and Seth. The Bible leaves this out because there was already one example of that phenomenon.

  • Why do people assume that Adam and Eve were Black? Also, why does it matter what color their skin was when race had not yet been invented?

If you don’t believe that Adam and Eve existed, then don’t bother commenting. This question is for those who do believe they existed. I’m asking this question because I’ve heard people say they were black because they started out in Africa. Do we have any idea what people in Africa might have looked like several millennia ago? Wouldn’t it make more sense if they were olive colored, like folks from the Middle East, and their descendants evolved to be lighter or darker as the earth shifted, climate changed, and they moved around? Thoughts?

  • Do people who say “All Lives Matter” think Black people are included in that ALL?

I’ve heard some people who support Black Lives Matter be willing to say that “All Live Matter, but right now, we’re trying to focus on protecting Black lives, which are sometimes given less consideration.” I’ve heard people say that they’re offended that people focus on Black lives and ignore All lives, and that makes me wonder if people who say All lives matter really just mean “White lives matter more than Black lives,” or if they simply mean, “White lives matter as much as Black lives”? If it’s the latter, I wonder if you can explain what would make you think that Black lives matter more than White lives.

  • Does everyone on unemployment really get $600/week, or is this determined by cost of living in your city/state? ?

That’s more that I made at my job, but my rent was $650/mth, so I was comfortable. I don’t think $600/wk would be enough if I had children, and/or lived in NYC. But then $600/wk in my city would be too much even if I did have children.

  • Why must we insult each other? ?

I joined Twitter recently, after years of saying I wouldn’t, and I realized that people argue about everything, but instead of debating, they insult each other and call names. I’ve seen this on YahooAnswers too. Is it difficult to rationally disagree? Do people no longer agree to disagree?
