  • Question about chi-square and phi/cramer's v?

If my chi-square shows an extremely significant association but the measure of association (phi/cramer's v) shows it to be weak, what does that mean? I'll be honest, it doesn't make a bit of sense to me, seems like a contradiction. can anyone explain?

  • Software to merge two pictures in to one?

I need some software that's easy to use and free, that can merge two currently separate pictures in to one file, and it needs to be a .jpg by the end, possibly a .png. Can I do this with the software that comes packaged with a Windows XP? Thank you.

  • Will the Parliamentary Awards (BBC Parliament, 9pm) show be on BBCiPlayer?

I'm missing it, and can't tape it because my Freeview (Freesat?) has gone in to convalescence again. Will it be on? Does literally everything go on there?

  • Chatting up birds online?

I've decided to dabble in the old cyber-flirt, with a view to meeting someone/people. Yesterday I sent out two messages in the morning and got two replies early evening. But then I panicked and did the internet equivalent of running a mile. It's alright talking crap in a bar with the alcohol and music pulsing through you or in a restaurant where everything smells lovely and you can't find room for criticism but a lot of the stuff men and women say to each other, when written down, is pretty cringeworthy. I don't think these women aretoo embittered/desperate, and the messages seemed fairly legit, and they were intelligent. Where do I go from here?

  • What a refreshing attitude Jimmy Mizen's mother has taken towards her son's killer?

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority on here called for his head. So, what of her reaction? Is it a good thing? Should she be less forgiving? Does the killer need to hang?

A few months ago, you may remember the trial of a middle-aged man who went outside to confront some youths, and was kicked to death. In an interview post-trial, his wife said they deserved the death penalty - I lost all pity for her.

  • Michael "Jewboy" Sophocles?

Would Alan Sugar have seen the similiarites between himself and Michael had Michael not been white, or male, or young, or Jewish (sorry, half-Jewish...erm, nominally Jewish)? Did these abritrary chracteristics save him? Sure, poor performance in the task is bad, but when the hell has he stood for such gross malpractice in the past? It certainly featured in his decision to, rightly, show Jenny the door.

  • What's the best non-fiction book you've ever read?

The deluge of 'What's your favourite book?' questions is impossible to dam and that's slightly regrettable. However, whenever I see these questions, 99% of the answers state fictional novels. What's your favourite piece of non-fiction? Feel free, if you want, to note a personal favourite and an objective greatest.

  • Wikimedia tool?

I've uploaded a fair few images on to Wikimedia Commons. I seem to remember there being a tool telling you where, across the array of Wikimedia projects, it was being used. I just noticed recently that someone was using one of my pictures on their Wikipedia userpage and it got me thinking.
