  • Can someone please help me find this song?

Hi everyone. I reread The Great Gatsby recently and got to the part where the song "Sheik of Araby" was mentioned. I remembered hearing a version of it kind of a long time ago that I wanted to listen to again tonight just out of curiosity, but my twenty or so minutes spent scouring youtube came up with nothing. I figure the video must have been removed at some point -- I'd hoped that somebody else uploaded a different video of it but apparently no such luck.

Anyway, here's what I know about this particular version of the song:

    1. There was a man singing lyrics. I found them here: http://parlorsongs.com/content/s/sheikofaraby-lyr....

    2. It was a pretty old recording. Kind of muffled, faded audio, like your typical decades-old song.

    3. It was played by an orchestra or ensemble of some kind. (I wish I knew which one.)

And here's what I vaguely remember about it:

    1. I think it was recorded in the 1920s. I know the original song itself was made in 1921, but this version might have been played a little later.

    2. As far as I could tell, it was mainly wind/brass instruments -- no piano or anything.

I've found plenty of other versions of the song, but none of them are what I'm looking for. I know this is kind of a long shot but honestly my OCD doesn't seem like it will relent until I find this specific recording. If anyone could help me out here it would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Why is my hearing suddenly muffled?

So here's the story: a week ago, I was just recovering from a pretty bad cold and my ears started to hurt and feel all plugged up. I didn't sleep very well that night because of the pain and the weird sounds I started hearing -- like clicks and wind blowing; also, there was some clearish discharge coming out. The next morning, the pain had stopped, but my ears were still plugged up and I could only hear things if they were really loud or really close. The next day I went to the doctor and they said I had pneumonia. They told me my ears would likely clear up on their own -- but I'm still here with terrible hearing, and the only thing that's changed is that the discharge stopped a few days ago.

What is going on here? Is there anything I can do to get my hearing back?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

  • How do I avoid boredom at work?

I work at an ice cream place and my days are spent doing the same 3 things: scooping ice cream, ringing up customers, and standing around behind the counter. We aren’t allowed to have our phones while we’re on the clock. I chat with my coworkers sometimes, but there’s a pretty significant age gap there with almost all of them (I’m 15 years old — this is my first job, I’m not used to working lmao) so it’s kind of weird. It would be boring even if I didn’t have ADHD; but the ADHD just adds a whole extra layer of impossible boredom. I’m grateful to have the job and be making money and all that — but my gosh I am a teenager and it’s summer and I wish I didn’t have to be cooped up in there all day. Is there anything I can do that would make this less boring?

  • Can someone tell me what the name of this game is?

I believe it s an app you can download on ipads (or at least, you used to be able to) and it s this game about a little boy trying to find and save his lost mom. The main portion of the game is set in a really cold, winter-y setting. There s a village with people and a blacksmith, and at one point there s a sort of ice cave you have to travel through. The boy has to warm up near torches from time to time or he ll freeze to death, until he is given a suit he can wear to keep himself warm at all times, and eventually you gain the ability to change the seasons. It s sort of like a puzzle/story game. I know this is a long shot, but can anyone help me find this game?

  • How to write a good emotional scene with minimal dialogue?

I really like movies and shows that are quiet and outwardly peaceful, but still have that sort of effect on you (not sure what to call it, think Ghibli or Wes Anderson). How do I do this without my stories just seeming boring, over-the-top, or too quiet?

  • Extremely irregular menstrual cycle?

I'm 14 and I started my period in November. I had it again in December and then January, now it's May and I haven't had it again since then. I have looked into PCOS and I don't exhibit any other symptoms of it so I don't think that's it. What is wrong with me?

(Note: In February I started taking daily antidepressants. Could this be a cause?)

  • Can someone tell me what type of music I'm looking for?

You know those videos where there's a calming time lapse of a sunset or whatever with the nice music playing in the background? That's the kind of music I'm looking for. Maybe sort of like vaprowave except not quite? (And yes I know this is a weird question and probably not specific enough but I'm hoping someone knows what I'm talking about.)

  • Why am I so secretive?

Whenever I'm on my computer or my phone I always make sure to turn it away from other people to make sure they can't see it, even though I'm usually doing fairly normal stuff. I always close my laptop whenever someone walks into my room, and I got really pissed at my brother once when he was being invasive. Even when I'm with my best friends, I only reveal things about myself if they force it out of me. I even get nervous whenever people walk behind me, even if I don't have my phone with me, because I'm so used to trying to hide what's on my phone. Why is this??

  • Why won't my youtube video upload after 14 hours?

I uploaded a 10 minute video to youtube 14 hours ago and it shows up on my channel when I'm signed in, but when I log out and try to find it it's not there.

I've heard it takes a while for the video to fully upload or something, but I don't think it should be taking this long.

However, keep in mind that I filmed it on a Kindle Fire and uploaded it on youtube mobile after saving it as an .mp4 file. Would this have any effect?

  • Why won't my mom let me dye my hair?

I'm a 13 year old girl and I really want get all my hair dyed, maybe a pastel blue color. I could try to do temporary coloring but it wouldn't really work well with my hair--I would have have to get it bleached first, and my mom definitely doesn't want that. She says I can't dye my hair "permanently" until I'm 16, but I know that I'll probably forget about it by then.

My dad doesn't really care what I do with my hair, but unfortunately he doesn't have enough authority to let me do it. My mom is really strict and it would be hard to convince her. I feel like I could probably convince her anyway, but only if I knew why she doesn't want me to. I've asked her about it and all she says is "Because." I'm afraid to keep bugging her about it because then she might get really mad and I'll have even less of a chance.

Please don't tell me things like, "Just don't dye your hair" because I really want to and that doesn't answer the question, or "Do it behind her back" because then she'll never trust me again.

Why doesn't she want me to get my hair dyed, and is there a way I can convince her?

I'm taking geometry and I came across this question that I can't seem to solve:

Circle O, with center (x, y), passes through the points A(0, 0), B(–3, 0), and C(1, 2). Find the coordinates of the center of the circle.

In your final answer, include all formulas and calculations used to find Point O, x, y), the center of circle O.

I need help! I have no idea how to do this!
