  • Will the U.S. stay solvent?

I have some money that I could either invest or pay off my car. I'm attracted to investing in a Roth IRA right now because the markets are as low as they are, and I don't mind if I have to wait a long time to see a return, but I'm wondering if the country might go bankrupt and I would lose everything. Paying off my car would be safer, but it's going to happen in a few years anyhow if I put the money in an IRA and just keep making regular payments. I'm afraid if I go that route I will miss my window of optimal investment time.

  • Where does the money come from?

I read an article today that the U.S. treasury is borrowing $3 trillion this quarter. Uh... from where?

  • How can I find my lotline?

My wife and I are wanting to fence in our backyard. I want to make absolutely sure of where our lotline is at before we start so we don't have problems with our neighbor claiming it is on their property. I want an accurate, legal description of where it is and everyone we ask tells us to go to Google Maps and we can find out for free. I have tried that before and it referred me to a site that had a fee. Everyone keeps telling me this should be free to find, but I think it's not. Am I missing something?

  • Terrible twos or something else?

My wife and I are at a loss with our 2 year old son because any kind of discipline we use seems to have no effect. We've tried every type of punishment under the sun, and our child seems to be unfazed by anything we try. He doesn't strike us as a bad or unintelligent child, but there seems to be no comprehension on his part when we punish bad behavior. We won't be overly concerned if this is just a phase children of this age go through, but that's what we're unsure of. Is something like this normal for a 2 year old?

  • Does this stand to reason when buying Morgan Silver Dollars?

I'm thinking about buying starting to keep some of these on hand in case the economy crashes and paper money becomes worthless. My thought is that it would make more sense to buy cheap ones in poor condition since I could get more for the money and because silver is silver. Does that make sense?

  • Do the people who didn't like AHS 1984 get this?

Horror movies from the '80's were often imperfect and ridiculous and cheesey and lots of fun.  I would say the same thing about AHS 84.  Not everyone has to like every season, and that's ok.  I personally didn't care for seasons 3 and 7, but I get some people loved them so it's not like I felt the need to go on social media and point out imperfections with them.

  • Stop using this phrase, please?

Work smarter not harder.  Pretty much anyone I've ever heard say it was looking for an easy way out of a task.  They thought just by using that saying they had lisence to sit back and act high-minded while someone else applied effort.  But more importantly, when did people suddenly get the idea that just one or the other would be acceptable?  Truly valuable people work smarter AND harder.

  • Do people get that CNN and Fox News are basically the same?

I'll start with the obvious: they're on opposite ends of the political spectrum, but otherwise they're very similar.  If you try to have a debate with someone on the merits of either channel, the rebuttal is almost always a rant about how much the opposite network sucks which is amazing to me.  They both claim to be balanced news sources, but they're both extremely one-sided.  Do people seriously not get that?

  • Kindergarten teachers, am I wrong about this?

A friend of mine has a daughter who is going to start kindergarten this year. My friend just told me they have to go on a trip and won't be back until a week after school starts. It seems to me that a little girl missing her first week of school would be seriously hard to make back up. Am I wrong about this?

  • What am I missing when it comes to Eli and Odell?

Over and over and over again the sports experts keep telling me that Eli has become terrible and Odell is the best thing ever. But I saw some Giants games last year and just don't see it. Yes I get Eli has some things he can't do, but he looked ok to me. And Odell was good, but it's not like he blew me away. They both looked around average but talking heads keep telling me one is great and one is terrible. I'm not a Giants fan so it's not like I care that much, but I I'm trusting the people on TV to be right about what they say, and it looks to me that they're way off here.

  • Isn't college stupid?

I realize that sounds kinda outrageous so I'll add this nugget, I'd agree that going to college after high school is the best option the way our society is set up now, so I would recommend it, but my point is more how did we get to a point where it seems like a good idea. Think about it: a person wants to spend money to learn how to better make money? That's absurd. And since there's two very obvious rebuttals, I'll save everyone some time and address them. Yes, I did go to college but I majored in something completely different than the field I'm in now (a big part of why I question if college is worth it). And to anyone who wants to argue the whole 'college experience' thing: people can come of age anywhere. Right now college just happens to be where alot of other people are.

  • Do Democrats realize how badly they blew it in 2016?

Forget all this round and round trying to blame Trump for whatever is thought of that day. It's probably true, but totally avoiding a stark reality; many people voted for Trump because he wasn't Hillary Clinton. I read today that Joe Biden is the front-running Democrat for 2020. I don't know how good of a president he'd be, but it's so obvious he would have had a better chance 4 years younger. Democrats, seriously, how did you not seem him as a better shot at the White House than Hillary?

  • Did I miss a rule change to the English language?

So I only watch FS1 for sports news these days because ESPN sucks. But I ve noticed that many of their talking heads say something that I ve always thought incorrect. They use a word like everybody instead of not everyone . For example, today they were talking about how a certain player never winning the big one and the sentence used was Everybody s different, everybody doesn t win the championship . That sounds totally wrong to me but I don t see how professional speakers could miss that. Am I the one who s off here?

  • Revence or misspelled?

I have a model ship that looks to be from around the 15 or 1600's. The label says Revence, but when I try to research it, nothing comes up. Although the name Revenge appears to have been used several times. Is that what my model meant to read?

  • Am I missing something about Antonio Brown?

Repeatedly I'm hearing that despite all his other flaws, AB is a hard worker. It's been well documented that the guy would often show up late to meetings. I've never had a job where punctuality and attendance didn't matter. How can someone be considered a good worker if they don't show up on time?

  • Can a fan clutch affect cruise control?

I just had the fan clutch replaced on my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer and now the cruise control doesn t work. I suppose the timing of it going out right after I had work done on it could be coincidental, but it seems odd. I also believe this could have been an honest mistake by the mechanic but I m not sure. Is it possible for a fan clutch replacement to affect the cruise control?
