  • Cannot get STL Tones Ignite Emissary to install?

Before I start off, I just want to disclose that the alternate download site, VST4Free,.com download file had a virus on it according to virustotal.com. (I don’t want to run that one.) I actually went through this process on August 15th and had given up. After someone recommended this plugin recently again and I began troubleshooting it AGAIN yesterday. I purchased it directly STL Tones and got a series of emails WITH NO ACTIVATION NUMBER, just the order number. No activation number on my STL Tones account either, just an order number. I think my difficulties may root from not having an activation number. The download file comes with instructions to use iLok license manager, which I installed, but I don’t have an activation number, just an order number. I actually tried entering an order number and that didn’t work. The executable installation just installs a bunch worthless “trace” files on both PC and Mac. On PC, you can’t even see the files and it’s just a folder called “traces” with uninstall files. On Mac, I can at least see the file extensions are .thi, .thidx, .thp, and .tht. I tried installing this on both PC and Mac with the same results. I think I would have the same issues using any plugin from directly from the STL Tones website.

  • Which JTS Toneforge plugin sounds the best?

I asked people on Reddit about guitar plugins for reaper and someone recommended JTS toneforge plugins. However, there are 5 of them and they're on sale $40 each.

I'd greatly appreciate it if you could listen to the following audio samples in this Google Drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OtMku-rFPV... (These are not mine, they're from a YouTube video.) They're labeled "S1," "S2," "S3," and so on. "S" is short for sample. Please let know if you have trouble listening to the audio files in google drive. If people could comment on this, so I know which one to purchase. Thank you.

  • Sony Vegas Pro 9 Crashing When Rendering 45 Minute Video can u help me?

I watched this video on how to fix this and it didn't work. I did not have the option to turn off GPU acceleration, as presented in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-Bd5iNoDeU

    Youtube thumbnail

    &t=54s

.WMV render, video is 45 minutes in length, NO 3D special effects/greenscreen:

1st time: crash error (said something like "could not render due to exception" and showing long string of code of random letters, numbers, etc) unfortunately I don't have screenshots of this one

2nd time: crash error (said something like "could not render due to unknown error")

3rd time: freezing at 2% when rendering for excessive amount of time (the preview freezes too) and the render time keeps increasing to 8+ hours

My boyfriend recommended installing Javascript and rebooting the computer. Nope, did not help one bit.

    My system specs:

    Windows 7 Dell Precision T3500 Mid-Range Gaming Desktop/Tower Intel(R), Xeon(R) CPU W3565 @ 3.20 GHz 64 bit 16 GB Ram, 1 TB of Space Quatro 2000 1 GB Video Card

  • What are the best guitar plugins to use for heavy metal?

I found these videos on how to mix metal in reaper and most people say the mixes in these videos actually sound good (unlike my amateur mixes). But here's the problem, they didn't really elaborate on the plugins used on the guitars. They're not using only Reaper plugins without using anything else for the guitars like an amp plugin like TSE X50 or are they? It perplexes me.

Anyhow, I want to know what guitar plugins I could use that sound similar to the ones in these mixes:

I've used plugins like TSE X50 and Exetremist and people always say the mixes come out terrible.... The only way I'm gonna get past this is if I ask others for their input on what I should be using.

  • Which guitar mix sounds better? (Version 2)?

There are so many YouTube videos on how on mixing heavy metal guitars it's overwhelming. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could listen to the following audio samples in this Google Drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19CmSSdDEe9... (These are not mine, they're from YouTube videos.) They're labeled "S1," "S2," "S3," and so on. "S" is short for sample. Please let know if you have trouble listening to the audio files in google drive. If people could vote on this, it would help me to narrow my focus to only a few mixing styles. Thank you.

  • Constructive criticism for metal sounding protest song (updated)?

Note: This is NOT a full release, I am still working on this. I am asking for feedback in regards to finalizing it.

In light of recent events, I’ve been working on this protest song for a while. After my prior conversations on Reddit/Discord, I decided to do this song in a thrash/death metal/hardcore sounding style. This is my first time doing this type of song. The entire song is done in the key of F Locrian Mode. This is a studio cut done in Audcaity done with an interface and many different plug ins. Just keep in mind, I have a low budget and this is mostly a one person production/operation. Also keep in mind that I used drums from an IPad drum machine. I am seeking any feedback/suggestions and constructive criticism. One person already told me the vocals were overpowering and I turned down the pitch slightly. If I turn the pitch down much further, it just sounds worse. I mostly am seeking feedback on how it is mixed now (i.e. if something is too loud). Just because I think the mix sounds good, doesn’t mean that others will. Also, if someone could tell me what genre subgenre this belongs in, I’d appreciate that. I think it’s death metal because of the growling/guttural vocals, but I am not sure.

    Here is the song:

  • [DnD] This is an 8 foot giant, how would you react to him IRL? What environment would you place him in?

I came up with this character a few years ago based on a powerful half-orc barbarian in Dungeons and Dragons. I’ve never been 100% sure what to name him, so I have referred to him with titles such as “The Beast” and “The Giant.” He has aged a bit, he is undead, and has fangs. I don’t know what environment to place him in. What environment would you place him in? This is an 8 foot giant, how would you react to him in real life? I intended to create something that is scary/creepy and attractive at the same time. I want to know if I accomplished this. Does the character remind you of anybody or anything? Let me know. Beyond just being artwork, I plan on putting this character into YouTube music videos. I would appreciate hearing any feedback you have and constructive criticism is welcomed. Thank you.

  • I got a new job where you sit at a desk for hours, how to you keep from getting bored?

Unfortunately, right now the place where I m going to be sitting at the front desk isn t very busy right now. That means I could get bored quickly and easily. It s a good thing that my supervisor said you re allowed to eat a quiet snack like trail mix. My last job I was allowed to do quiet activities to keep myself busy during down time such as homework, coloring, or drawing. On this job I can t do that anymore so, this is a major routine change for me. I also have mild Autism, I know mentioning this will help people give me suggestions of what I can do to keep myself from getting bored. There is one other person sitting at the desk with you on this job, but I don t think that you can really talk much on this job or either. Anybody have similar jobs and what do you do to keep yourself from getting bored?

  • I picked a stage name and I do rock music, should I change it?

So my name is Anne and I still wanted to go by Anne. So I made my stage name Rock 'N' Roll Anne. I got the idea when someone gave me a compliment calling me a "rock 'n' roller" with my black leather jacket on, I thought it was funny. So I got inspired by that and several songs that I had previously written had "rock 'n' roll" in the title or in the lyrics. So it made total sense. A complete stranger even liked the name, Rock 'N' Roll Anne. But recently a friend recommended that I change it because it made him think of 50's style rock 'n' roll (like rockabilly) which I don't make that kind of music. I explained to him that rock 'n' roll can refer to the 50's and 60's style music but it's also an umbrella term that groups rock music together as a whole. Like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Aerosmith, and Queen are rock 'n' roll bands too. You see what I think about the term rock 'n' roll is it seems to be a more general genre flexible term within rock music than just having name associated with glam rock, heavy metal, etc. My music is soft and hard; I do glam rock, metal, and hard rock. I don't wanna just be pigeonholed to one genre. I also use rock 'n' roll as a word to describe myself (like an adjective) and I've heard other people do this as well. I could also call myself RNR Anne for short. For those of you who don't know, yes I'm a girl. The real question is do you think it's good or okay? Hopefully not really bad.

  • Apps that record video and store it in the cloud?

YouNow used to do this but they don't anymore. I've heard of apps that let you record long video clips and they store them on their server (cloud storage) so you can go back and download them later. I find that some of the live broadcasting apps do this. I saw an Ad on Instagram earlier this year that said "out of memory?" or something like that. I know there are apps that do this I just don't term ember which ones. You have to be able to access your recorded videos online and be able to download them on a computer (desktop).

  • I live at home but my parents have different rules?

I am a young adult (college student) and I live at home. Since I'm at home I live under my parent's rules still. But my Mom and Dad have different rules! My mom has a problem with the fact that I want to go out and date. But my dad on the other hand supports that a lot more and he doesn't have a problem with it. Does anyone win? I am dependent on my parents so they have a lot of control over me. My mom especially does have a lot of control over my life. How can I do the things that I want to more, have fun, and be an adult? How can I do things like dating and having sex?

  • What is your take on this situation?

I live at home but it's just a place I live until I move out. My mom has raised me to be a "good little girl." I always feel that I have to live my life the way she wants it. I feel a lot of pressure because she impedes on me and has authority over (even though I am 19). (It's because she's older.) I always feel like I have to appease her, "kiss up" to her because of the way she raised me.... What you would do if you were me? I understand that everyone has their problems. I am looking for your opinions and ideas. How would you interpret this? Read the whole story here http://justpaste.it/urs2
