I’m a TJ Maxx cashier. Yesterday, a woman came in to return an item from Marshalls, but Marshalls items strictly have to go back to Marshalls and TJ Maxx items have to go back to TJ Maxx. No big deal, lots of customers are confused by that. Anyway, so I told her it has to go back to Marshalls and she was arguing with me that she bought it at a TJ Maxx, but I pointed out to her that the receipt says Marshalls. So, she demanded to speak to the manager, who basically repeated what I just said, but she was arguing with her too. And to “prove us wrong”, she called that store to ask what the name of the store was! I’m pretty sure the employee that answered said, “Thank you for calling Marshalls.” And she was arguing with them over the phone too, saying that she’s pretty sure their store front said TJ Maxx! And she hung up with the attitude that they were wasting her time! Who’s the idiot that came up with the idea that the “customer is always right”?
