The question goes like this:
A 25 Ω, 50 Ω, and 100 Ω set of resistors were used to create the following conditions:
• Current coming out of the battery, I = 0.86A
• Voltage across the 50 Ω resistor is 28.57 V
Reconstruct the circuit responsible for the above parameters. That's all the information that is provided to the question- no diagram nor anything else.2 AnswersEngineering2 days ago
As if I were stranded in on an island and I wanted to build things out of metal, how would I accomplish this? What material would I build the first smelter out of? Would I use this elementary smelter to smelt iron ore to make a steel smelter that’ll be a lot more efficient to then go ahead and make more steel for other things that would help with surviving alone, making weapons, making housing, etc?3 AnswersEngineering4 weeks ago
My wife and I are planning on trying for our first newborn here pretty soon. As for me, I’m an avid amateur astronomer with a deeply rooted passion for physics. I would love to name my wife’s and I’s newborn after perhaps a celestial body like an exoplanet, moon, star, galaxy; or a famous physicist like Isaac after Isaac Newton; or after a tenacious space probe or rover. The trick is to find a name that doesn’t sound cringe, cheesy, or just plain out stupid. For example, I’m not going to name my child Venus, or Uranus. Likewise, nor am I going to name my child like the exoplanet “H219134b”. I don’t think my wife would take me serious on that one.13 AnswersAstronomy & Space4 weeks ago
Sure it’s a simulator, so it’s not going to be %100 realistic. I’m more referring to the physics of the rockets. Can I really put 10 giant tanks of liquid fuel on top of each other and not expect it to crush the bottom tanks?
According to my high school physics text book “Voltage: the electrical potential energy lost or gained per Coulomb of charge between the...?
...terminals of the battery or by a given device in an electrical circuit”. How do they lose their potential electrical energy? Is it because electrical potential energy is being converted into “useful energy”?1 AnswerPhysics1 month ago
In my High school physics class, it is said that resistors places in series in a circuit will increase the overall resistance and reduce...?
... current. Yet, when looking at the circuit schematic, at each resistor there is no change in the current. The battery supply supplies 5 amps and at each and every one of all the resistors, it is still showing 5 amps, showing no reduction in current. Can someone please explain this?30 AnswersPhysics2 months ago
What science related occupations would one pursue should they want to one day work on Mars or the Moon? (Asking for my son (he’s 16))?
My son is mechanically and scientifically inclined and driven. He has this dream of working on another planet but I don’t know what Science discipline I should suggest to him to study in University that would give him his best shot at achieving his dream of working on Mars or the Moon.5 AnswersAstronomy & Space2 months ago
What’s the difference between a high end gaming laptop and a gaming computer other than the fact one has portability benefits?
I’m looking to buy either or but I have no idea what the difference is. My budget is up to $3000.3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks2 months ago
This is going to be a long shot as I feel my issue is very specific but if you’re super computer savvy you may be able to help me?
I have a DSLR camera meant for video recording. I have an Elgato CamLink to utilize my DSLR as a “webcam”. I have an Elgato HD60+ to capture my Xbox One gameplay. I have a Blue Yeti mic. All 3 of these devices I’m hooking up to my Surface Pro 3 but my Surface Pro 3 has only one USB port so I’m combatting this by using a powered USB hub. The USB hub is capable of connecting up to 4 USB devices into my Surface Pro 3’s 1 USB port. In my case, like previously mentioned, I only have the 3. I’m using OBS to stream to Twitch. Each device works perfectly on their own when connected directly to my Surface Pro 3’s only USB port. However, when I connect all 3, things start to get troubling. The Blue Yeti is always recognized by my Surface Pro 3. The Elgato capture card and the DSLR camera however are not always recognized and require a full restart of my Surface Pro 3 in order to potentially work. Sometimes all 3 work, but usually they don’t; and when they do, they don’t for long. With just the Blue Yeti mic and the Elgato HD60+ hooked up, they’ll work majority of the time, and if they don’t, one simple restart of my surface pro 3 does the trick. I tried multiple different USB hubs and none of them have an advantage on the other. I’m wondering what the issue is. Is it the surface pro 3 incapable of recognizing multiple different devices at once? Is it the USB hubs I tried? OBS for Windows? ... THIS EXPLANATION IS CONTINUED IN the updated question section. Please read that too.2 AnswersAdd-ons2 months ago
My physics textbook tells me "particular waves will travel at a constant speed through a given medium unless the nature of the medium...?
... changes". If this is true, then let my provide a thought experiment. I build a very long box. It is a closed system and within the close system is a consistent air composition the whole way through. The box extends from my house in Canada all the way around the world to my friend in China. I say "Hello" into the box. Do the sound waves travel at the same constant speed from the first 1 km compared to the the last 1km?3 AnswersPhysics2 months ago
